Our homestead was built in 1786 by my Great-Great-Great
Grandfather, United Empire Loyalist Colonel
Henry Nase [1752 - 1836] an officer
of the Kings American Regiment out of New York. Fed up with the political
situation of the day, he fled to what is now the Province of New Brunswick.
Secure with a land grant from King George III, he worked the land he called
"MOUNT
HOPE FARM".
In her book "Westfield: A History Told by Residents" author and historian Susanne Sutton refers to MOUNT HOPE FARM as the Architectural Gem of Westfield. The area is well known for being FOG and SMOG free. While the weather can be miserable just 5 miles away, "the sun always shines in Westfield". The beautiful Saint John River is only minutes away and our front door is a stones throw from the Nerepis River. Golfing, swimming, fishing, bird watching and boating are some of the many activities available in the immediate area. We know you will enjoy your visit with us ! Charlotte (Nase) Lohnes, Proprietor |
