I started schooling

Primary school Kericho (1978-1980). I then moved to Matunda DEB Primary
in Kakamega (now Lugari District) (1981-1982) and Kongoni Primary
School (1983-1985). I sat for my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education
at Kongoni Primary School in 1985 being among the first batch of the
8-4-4 system. I joined St. Ignatius, Mukumu Boys in 1986 and left after
sitting for the Kenya Cerfiticate of Secondary Education (KCSE) in 1989. I joined Jomo
Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology in 1990 where I
undertook Bachelor of Science degree in Horticulture. I was at the
University of Western Sydney (UWS) in Australia for a Master of
Horticulture degree between 1997 and 2000. I enrolled for my Ph.D at
JKUAT in 2000 and graduated in July 2005. Part my work was undertaken
in the institute of biological production systems (formerly,
Institute of vegetables and fruit science) at the University of Hannover
in Germany. After my Phd studies, I had a chance to
undertake postgraduate research at the University of Hannover (3
months) and Okayama University (6 months). I am
grateful to various organizations that have provided financial support
for my studies. My undergraduate studies were financed through the
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB). The Australian government through
its Australian Agency for International Aid (AuSAID) granted me a
scholarship for my studies at UWS. Both DAAD and Volkswagen Foundation
of Germany funded my PhD work. My postdoctorate research in
Hannover was financed by DAAD while that in Okayama by the Matsumae
International Foundation. |
