A Godstory
So, the summer ended and I went back to school as a senior accounting major wondering what in the world I was doing.  Not only that:I was in a five-year program, on track to get my master’s in business administration two years from then.  I prayed about the possibility of
I won’t lie.  It’s been really hard taking graduate level business classes now that I feel my God-given passion is foster children.  At the same time, though, I have so much purpose.  I feel like I have a very good idea of where my life is headed, and the fact that it seems so God-ordained gives me such joy and peace.
But God did a lot more for me last summer than just change my career plans.  He also strengthened my faith in Him immensely.  There’s never been another time that He’s worked so clearly in my life, and I can’t tell you how special I feel to know that He takes such a personal interest in me.  I know God is real, because He’s proven Himself in my life.  Of course, I’m sure He’ll never work the exact same way in any two people, but the fact is that He has a personal interest in the lives of all His people, and He wants to work in all our lives to show us how real He is.  If you’re a Christian, consider making a habit of asking Him where He’s already at work so you can join Him there.  If you’ve never asked Jesus to save you, know that He’s ready and willing to prove Himself to you if you’ll only give Him the chance.
Emily is currently a student at the University of Mobile.  She will graduate in May 2007 and is excited to see how God will integrate her business background with her interest in the foster system.

of changing my major, but as I researched, I found out something pretty amazing.  I discovered that most directing positions at children’s homes require a business background!  I was in just the right field of study for the kind of work God seemed to be leading me toward.  Amazing
in the last 15 years and with the help and commitment of the community, we hope we can continue to care for these children in the years to come. The feeding, clothing, and sheltering of these abused and neglected victims takes generosity and true Christian caring from people like you. Your tax deductible pledge of financial support will help start them back on the road to the dignity and self respect they need in healing the emotional and physical scars they all bring to the Wiregrass Children's Home.
The home is licensed by the State of Alabama as an emergency shelter. The children who come to the home are referred by the State Department of Human Resources (DHR), yet the state provides less then 10 percent of our operating cost. Actually, we wouldn't have it any other way! This frees us to live and teach about the true answer to this growing epidemic, Jesus Christ.
We provide care for children from the ages of 2 to 18 and are proud to say that our administrative expensives are well below the national average of other such charitable organizations. Our home depends on contributions from concerned citizens, area businesses, churches, and annual fundraisers. We are managed by a local board of directors comprised of area businessmen and women who volunteer their time and energy to manage the home and raise the funds needed for its operation.
