Tony Hawk
Anyone who's familiar with pro skateboarding knows the name Tony Hawk. The media have referred to him as the "Michael Jordan of skateboarding," and even today, Tony seems to have no problem living up to this claim. At the recent 1999 X-Games in San Francisco, Hawk made skating history when he pulled off a 900-- that's two and a half turns in the air. 
Tony Hawk is a name that is synonymous with skateboarding. He is undoubtedly the most famous skater in history, recognized for his overwhelming talent, as well as the major contributions he has made to the skateboarding community. 

Hawk's creativity and innovation in the sport have earned him countless titles and notoriety. Since 1981, he's participated in 12 major promotional skate videos, done stunt work for movies and commercials, and even participated in the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta. 

His vert skating style and tricks like 540s and 720s are considered his specialty, and have earned him worldwide fame as skateboarding's most technical athlete. His consistent high scores prove his ability and when he's competing, he's one of the few who can continuously connect difficult tricks consistently.
