Attirala:
Sitting on the bamks of the Cheyyuru river, it is a great center of Vedic culture and is famous for the scenic beauty. It is the site of the magnificent Parasurama Temple, which is embellished with exquisite carving including floral representations, women in dancing poses and images of Vishnu, Parasurama and Krishna. The miniature chaitya crowing the sanctum can still be seen in side the temple. An image of Saint Ekatatayya inside is remarkable for its-life appearance and sculptural beauty.
Apart from this, there are two other famous themples on a hill slope, dedicated to Gadadhara and Thretheswara. Gadahara is depicted as standing on one leg. On account of this temple and the holy river Cheyyeru, Attirala is considered as sacred as Gaya Kshetram
A great hall of 72 pillars built by the Buddhists, a deep Perennail lake and a towering Jyothi Stambha located on a hillock which when lit can be seen from a distance of 25 to 35 Kms, add to the beauty of this place. It is a popular destination during the festival of Mahasivaratri.
