I love the springtime, a time of renewal and rebirth, of buds and blossoms. I love planning my little front garden and what to put in the boxes on my deck. There's something very comforting about digging in the dirt and watching things grow. It's also the season we celebrate rebirth of another sort. Christians celebrate Easter, Jewish familes celebrate Passover, our pagan friends celebrate Beltane and let's not forget April Fools' Day. |

Passover commemorates the release of the Jewish people from bondage in Egypt. During the night of the tenth plague, in which every Egyptian first-born son died, it was the blood of the sacrificial lamb, smeared on the doorpost of every Jewish home, which safeguarded those within from the Angel of Death. Earth Day |
The first Earth Day was held April 22, 1970. I was there. It was a most inspirational experience..and I was that far from Pete Seeger...Earth Day was founded by Senator Gaylord Nelson in an effort to promote awareness of the environment and what the human race was doing to it. Teach-ins were held all over the country to educate and enlighten. It has since become world-wide. Click here to find out what you can do this year... |
