Shakespeare:  Sonnet 116

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments; love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds
Or bends with the remover to remove.
O, no, it is an ever-fixe'd mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wand'ring bark,
Whose worth's unknown, although his height be taken.
Love's not Time's fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle's compass come;
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
   Legend has it that during the time of the Roman empire, one emperor forbade marriages because it interfered with recruiting soldiers for his wars.  Valentine, a priest of the time, performed marriages during this time as he thought the law was unfair and against the laws of God.  It is celebrated at the time of the Roman feast of Lupercalia.  Check the links below to learn more and add to your celebration!

Ground Hog Day
If Candlemas day is bright and clear,
There'll be twa (two) winters in the year.
  Although most people think of February and Valentine's day,  Groundhog day is celebrated on February 2nd.  According to legend, the groundhog wakes from hibernation, pops his head out of his burrow and, if he sees his shadow, there'll be six more weeks of Winter.  Check the links below to learn more..
