| Chairman Ho Chi Minh was born Nguyen Sinh Cung in Hoang Tru Village in 19/05/1890 and grew up in Kim Lien Village. In 1942, he adopted a Sino-Vietnamese name with a common Chinese surname "Ho" and a given name meaning "enlightened will" (Chí meaning 'will', and Minh meaning 'light'). He was the Prime Minister of the Democractic Republic of Vietnam (then North Vietnam) from 1946-1955 and President from 1955 until his death on 02/09/1969. | ||
