Summary: Iolaus is on the hunt...
Feedback: please? :)
Notes: well, the official definition of a drabble is a story of 100 words. I refer to this as a double drabble because it is just over 200. I just can't seem to finish a story that fast *l*
Disclaimer: Ioaus isn't mine. I'd take better care of him than RenPic if he were.
The Pursuit
Iolaus stalked through the forest, paying attention to nothing but the object of his quest. The little guy had avoided capture for over a mile, and the hunter was determined he not escape again. Iolaus cringed when his prey was alerted to his presence, and darted through the woods to the left.
The hunter's arms pinwheeled in the air when he lost his footing and slid face-first down a hidden mud slope. When he finally came to a stop, Iolaus muttered as he wiped the thick mud away from his eyes and mouth. Standing, he tuned his ear to the sounds of the forest and again began to shadow his quarry.
Following the quest of his long search, he mumbled under his breath. "You're not getting away this time."
He was about to grab him from behind when he heard a sudden snap and felt the sting of a tree branch lick his forehead. Raising a hand to his face, he sighed, "Then again . . ."
He paused, seeing that the object of his pursuit had again stopped, as if unsure where to go. Snickering, Iolaus jumped into the clearing. Landing next to his target, he lashed out with his arm.
A bright grin filled Iolaus' face as he held his prize in the air. Laughing out loud he exclaimed, "Ha! I will get to eat dinner after all!" Whistling happily, Iolaus carried the small rabbit back to camp.
