Then and Now Chapter 38 Jenn looked around in the complete darkness, up until that point she never realized how dark it got in the Kentucky Wilderness. "Uhm guys?" she said after a few minutes of silence. "I'm here." D answered from behind her. "Me too." Everyone answered. Ryan tried to stand up but ended up nearly tripping on Ang. "Sorry." he apologized. "Aimee did you put the candles and stuff in the kitchen?" "Yea, they're all on the counter." she answered, pulling the pillow closer to her. She was crowded on the couch next to Brandon and Kevin. "I'll go grab some." Ryan stated as he carefully made his way through the dark to the kitchen. Ang carefully got to her feet. "I'll help!" she said and made her way through the darkness to the kitchen.Krys leaned back against AJ's chest.. "Isn't this fun?" she whispered sarcastically. "Tons." Brian whispered back. Krys spun around. "Rok?" "Yeah?" "Where the hell's Bone?" she hissed. "Right here." AJ's raspy voice came from beside her. Krys made a confused face. "How the heck did that happen?" AJ laughed quietly, "You probably turned around when you sat down." He wrapped his arm around her and pulled her in front of him. "See all better." Nina sat next to Jenn and Howie on the floor. A flash of lightning lit the room up for a brief moment then returned it to pitch blackness. "Anyone got any ideas of what we should do?" Nina asked. "Not much to do." Howie stated, wrapping an arm around Jenn. "Cards? We could play poker or something." Jenn suggested. "Kinda dark for cards." Brandon said, saying something to the whole group for the first time that night. "Maybe we should all just go to bed and ride the storm out?" Aimee asked, feeling more nervous as a loud crash of thunder shook the cabin. "Doubt I'd be able to sleep through this." Krys said leaning against AJ. Ang stood behind Ryan in the kitchen. "How many candles do we have?" she asked. "About twenty...and there's four flashlights. I think we're pretty well set." He turned around quickly and bumped into Ang. "Oh jeez I'm sorry." he said as he steadied her. "That's okay." she said softly looking into his blue eyes and before she knew what was happening his lips were brushed against hers. Ryan and Ang lit the candles and passed out the flashlights. "Well isn't this fun?" Kevin asked as the room slowly became lit. Nick shot him a dirty look. "Yeah best night of my life." he said sarcastically. Boyd looked at Lis, "Lissy can I talk to you alone for a few minutes?" "Uhm sure, you'll have to help me into the kitchen." she said, ignoring Nick's glare. "Sure." Boyd made his way over and helped her to her feet, supporting her as they made their way into the kitchen. Brian looked at Nick, "Calm down little bro he isn't gonna hurt her with all of us out here." "Never know." Nick muttered, running a hand through his hair. He stood up. "I'm gonna take a walk." AJ stared at Nick in surprise. "Nick its a storm out there." "I meant in the cabin, I may be upset but I'm not crazy." Nick laughed to himself as he walked out of the room and up the stairs. Boyd looked around nervously. "You look good." "Thanks, you don't look to bad either." She said quietly, not wanting the entire group to overhear their conversation. He smiled, "Having a good trip?" "Boyd can we please stop this small talk? I know why you're here." "Okay skip all that stuff. I, boy this is a lot harder to do face to face." he said staring at his hands. "I'll do it, we're through." she said calmly. Her eyes widened in surprise at the sound of her voice, she never figured she'd stay calm when she confronted him. "I'm tired of you cheating on me, heck half the girls you were with were my friends!" Boyd smiled weakly, "I guess I wasn't ready for a commitment." "What commitment? You weren't faithful for two days! I don't know why I even stayed with you." "Me either." he sighed, "Lis you're a great girl and all...but we're just too different..." "Too different?" she repeated in shock. "You didn't think I was too different when we were planning that trip to your cabin." He sighed, "Lis I was going to do this at the cabin..." "Before or after we slept together?" Nick walked in from the doorway, "Boyd, I think you should go out there now." before I go with the urge to hit you, he thought to himself. Boyd nodded. "Lis I'm sorry." he gave her a weak smile and left the room. Nick went over and sat near her. "You okay?" "Ducky." she replied, not looking at him. "Hey, I thought you had a pretty decent boyfriend now you know..." She giggled, "Yeah you aren't that bad." He wiggled his eyebrows. "Not bad? Just not bad? Man I got work to do." Brandon watched as Boyd walked into the room and sat beside him. "How'd it go?" he whispered. Boyd shook his head. "Not good, it didn't go the way I wanted it to. She's pretty upset." "B, she's got a right." Brandon replied. "I guess I should talk to Han." he looked over where she was sitting, busy talking away to Jenn. "Han?" She looked up, giving Boyd a look of contempt before glancing at Brandon. "What?" "Can we talk?" "Sure." Han got up and led him upstairs, the only place she could think of where they wouldn't be interrupted. She opened the door to her and Lis' room and walked in, Brandon right behind her. "So?" she asked as she sat on the bed. Hannah looked at Brandon as he walked around the room, he turned to her. "Its over isn't it?" She nodded slowly. "Probably been over longer then we've realized." "Longer then the last six weeks?" he asked. Han sighed. "Yeah, I'd say the last few months." He sighed as he sat down next to her. "Probably didn't help much I helped Boyd cheat on Lis." "That put it over the top." Han said quietly. "I don't think he was the only one cheating." she gave him a look and he quickly turned his attention away from her. "It was only once...you didn't want to go to the party and I uh asked Marie." Han's eyes went wide. "Marie? You asked Marie?" she made a face thinking of the one girl she couldn't stand. "We just went as friends." he answered. "Well good for you, hope your happy together." and with that she stormed from the room. Nick helped Lis into the living room and got her settled, then he turned to Boyd. "Soon as the storm lets up you're gone got me?" Boyd nodded. "Uh maybe it would be better if I went in the kitchen." "Good idea." Nick said as he watched him disappear. He sat down next to Lis and pulled her in her arms. Everyone watched as she fell asleep with her head on his chest. "What happened?" Krys asked, feeling curios as always. "Maybe we shouldn't ask." Aimee said. Nick sighed, "Lis will tell you if she's up to it. Uhm you guys up to leaving here soon? I don't know if I feel like staying here the rest of the week." "Couldn't agree more." AJ said. Ang nodded. "Definitely wouldn't mind getting home," She looked at Ryan then frowned. He caught her look and leaned in. "I start my vacation in two days...and I was planning on hanging out with my cousins in Orlando." Ang grinned. "Good timing ranger Littrell." Brian saw Han walk down the stairs and disappear into the small bathroom. HE stood up and walked away from the group, heading towards the bathroom. "Han?" he asked as he stood outside the door. "Go away B." she said through the door. "Han I'm not going anywhere. You okay?" She opened the door slowly. "Best I've ever been." she said with a small sob. He walked inside the bathroom and pulled her into his arms. "Its okay Han, I kinda like your new boyfriend better then that guy." She laughed into his shirt. "Its silly huh? Feeling upset over something that's been over a long time." He looked into her eyes. "Always hurts when you realize something's really over Han." She nodded as she wiped away the few tears that had fallen. "Guess its time to face the gang." Brian smiled, "It'll just be us out there, Nick practically forced Boyd out of the room. My guess is Brandon will be with him." "Always knew I liked Nick." she smiled as she opened the door. Next: Chapter 39 |
