THE 1977 NEW MOUSEKETEERS
Mouse. Club.
NEW!!! Lisa and Julie recently reunited on TV! In June 2009, Lisa appeared on Good Morning Texas to promote her appearances with WomenOfFaith.com. Just as Lisa in the past surprised Kim Fields on TV, Julie Piekarski Probst surprised Lisa at the end of her segment. See the video at Julie and Lisa June 2009.
Lisa isn't journaling as much these days. She's discovered Twitter. Follow her on Twitter at Lisa Whelchel Twitters.
Lisa is back to writing after a two-year sabbatical. Her next book will be about the importance of friendships in one's life.
IMPORTANT TO NMMC FANS ... Geocities is shutting down its free websites some time in 2009 (my two sites are free sites). I will do what I can to transfer my two NMMC webpages to another site, hopefully one that doesn't shut down for an hour at a time when it gets too many hits (annoying, I know!). In the future, if this link doesn't work, do a search for "1977 New Mouseketeers" and you should be able to find any websites that I may create. Thanks for checking out my webpages. - Karen

Includes their 1977 "Dinah!" appearance and live stage show footage. If you missed it, check it out on YouTube: Part 1 and Part 2.
Lisa co-wrote a book with her mom, Genny Coleman. It's called "The Busy Grandma's Guide to Prayer."
Hey, did you know that Lisa's first book, Creative Correction, is now available in Spanish? Si!
The first two seasons of "The Facts of Life" came out on DVD on May 9, 2006. As all diehard NMMC and FOL fans know, Julie P. was in Season 1 with Lisa as Sue Ann Weaver. Note that Julie is pictured on the back of the DVD. Here's a fairly recent photo of Julie! Included on the FOL DVD set is "Remembering The Facts of Life" (interviews with Lisa Whelchel, Kim Fields, casting director Eve Brandstein, Felice Schachter, Mindy Cohn and Julie Anne (Haddock) Becker (runs 18 mins., 27 secs.) PLUS the DVD extra "After Facts" where Felice Schachter, Julie Anne (Haddock) Becker, Mindy Cohn, Kim Fields and Lisa Whelchel talk about what they've done since their FOL days (runs 3 mins., 50 secs.) PLUS, the third season of "The Facts of Life" came out on DVD in October 2006!

Todd's the drummer in a band with a group of his friends. He bought that drum set back in 1978.
Available now is Bill Gaither's Homecoming DVD called "Journey To The Sky." Look in the bonus "special features" section for Lisa's testimonial and story on how she came about to receive her original pink Mouseketeer ears. Plus I hear the audience honors Lisa with a rendition of the "The Facts of Life" theme song.
Read what Allison is up to these days (she's living in Mexico).
Congratulations to Pop and his wife, Lisa! They met at the Hollywood Collector Show in October 2001 and were married on June 27, 2004. See photos from their wedding. Pop wrote a book called "Broken Dreams" that he's looking to get published. We wish the Attmores, including their baby girl born in 2007, all the best!
A couple of years back, Lisa put out a MomTime video explaining how you can start your own MomTime Group with mothers in your neighborhood (the focus is on Food, Faith, Friends and Fun). Focus on the Family came out with a new-and-improved version called "How to Start Your Own MomTime" by Lisa Whelchel. It's a spiral hardcover book with a brief DVD featuring Lisa who introduces the concept of MomTime. The cost is a $16 donation and is available through Focus on the Family to order it. However, if you want an even better deal, for $15 you can get it autographed (plus S&H) through Lisa's website.
Lisa's fourth book was a big holiday season hit! You can get "The ADVENTure of Christmas: Helping Children Find Jesus in our Holiday Traditions" through Lisa's website. Be sure to request to have it autographed, too.
Now it's time to say goodbye to some of our family ...
Velma French, Lisa’s grandmother (Nanny), had just turned a grand 91 years old. Many of the NMMC and FOL fans met Nanny back in the '70s and '80s and became pen pals with her. She made us feel special because she spent the time to talk with the fans. She would even call them up on the phone every so often. Nanny ran Lisa's fan club for many years and was her guardian much of the time while Lisa filmed NMMC and FOL. It was great that Lisa got the NMMC gang together for a reunion in 2001 but even better was the fact that Nanny was able to be there to see her old friends again. Nanny was the Queen Mother of the Mouseka-moms! Oh, and that Texas twang! It was part of her special charm. Velma French: 1913-2004. God bless you. We miss you, Nanny.
We are also saddened to report the untimely passing of Scott Craig on December 30, 2003. Scott will always be in our hearts...
"To the best musician on the NMMC club who filled my head and heart with happiness, joy and encouragement ... I will always appreciate your kindness and gentleness with you fans back in May of 2001."
"I don't know if there really are Angels In America, but if there are, their choir just picked up one hell of a second tenor -- one who will hold his notes in order to make all the harmonies work, just as he did back on that wonderful old show. Thank you Scott Craig, for the inspiration, the laughs, the love you shared, and the moments you created in our young lives."
"Scott has been a shining light in darkness. His big bright smiling eyes have touched my heart so many times. He had a love for the fans and never made you feel like you were anything less than a friend. His love for life was infectious. Scott will be so missed."
"Scott was such a wonderful person - one of those wonderful people who never met a stranger. He made you feel like you were his friend the moment you met him."
"Scott will never be forgotten as long as one of us who truly saw his heart, his talent and his love of life are alive."

Guess who Lisa got in touch with in 2002? Julie! At left is Lisa with Julie (Piekarski) Probst. Julie's married with three kids and is living in the St. Louis area. Julie's kids perform in live theatre. Besides being a fellow Mouseketeer, Julie played "Sue Ann Weaver" in the first season of FOL. We missed Julie at the NMMC reunion in 2001 but we're hoping she can make the next one. Julie posted a message to the NMMC Yahoo! Groups a few years back. Read What Julie's Been Up To.
Two 2001 articles on the some of the former New Mouseketeers can be found at "When The Spotlight Fades: 'The New Mickey Mouse Club' Child Stars Grow Up" and "Where Are They Now?"
Miss the FOL Reunion movie? Jenny has posted vidclips from the movie.
Lisa and her husband Steve are involved in a ministry they founded called MomTime Ministries. Lisa and Steve are anxious to "equip and encourage young moms to set aside time weekly to be together and be refreshed through food, faith, fellowship and fun." Lisa herself has been in a MomTime group for over ten years. The MomTime video that Lisa created a few years back shows Lisa hosting her MomTime group and she explains how to start one yourself in your own neighborhood. You can order a Starter Kit at Lisa's website.
Lisa's "DriveTime Devotions for Moms" CD is available on her website. This is Lisa's "Creative Correction" book broken down into bite-size portions followed by a prayer.
In a rare appearance, six of the New Mouseketeers appeared at the Hollywood Collectors Show in North Hollywood, California, on October 6 and 7, 2001. Don't forget to check out Lisa's third book. It's all about homeschooling and can help you decide if homeschooling can work for your family. You can purchase the book at Amazon.com, Lisa's website or your local bookstore. Lisa's website also has an updated section on homeschooling..
Lisa's second book came out September 2001. You can order it through Lisa's website at order FOL book. The book is not a typical autobiography but includes personal stories of certain times in Lisa's life, from her childhood to the present years. It's my favorite of all Lisa's books and I know you'll enjoy it.
Don't miss out on Lisa's first book -- "Creative Correction: Extraordinary Ideas for Everyday Discipline" -- which came out in 2000 and is published by Focus on the Family and offers "creative solutions for parents who are desperate for new, proven approaches to discipline." It's now also being printed in Spanish! Order "Creative Correction".

Rare items from the '70s "The New Mickey Mouse Club" TV show have been up for bidding at Disney's ebay auctions! Disney has been cleaning out its attic and has dug up original items from the '70s TV show. The highest amount paid for an NMMC item so far is $1,125 for a pair of Kelly's green Mouseketeer "ears." Amazing, eh?! When Disney puts more '70s NMMC items up for grabs, they'll be listed here: '70s NMMC Disney Ebay Auction Items
