Module 1
Names & Avatars

The name and avatar (av, avi, ava for short) that a Free Woman chooses reflects her station on Gor, her Caste (if she has one) and the type of image she will portray.

-Names-
You are a Free; your name should start with a Capital Letter, as slave names are always written in lower case. Do not CAPITILIZE EVERY LETTER. One, it sounds like you are shouting your name; two, it looks like you are drawing attention to yourself too much; and, three, many Rarius capitalize every letter, so leave that to them *smile*

Please do not use the same name you normally use in other realms. First off, you want to separate your Gorean character from your Vampire, Castle, BDSM, whatever character. Second, it looks too much like dual role-playing. Third, if your friends from the other rooms see your name on Gor, they will all come down to visit. Sometimes, this is not a wise idea, as they may not know Gor and would get into possibly embarrassing situations, or they may come down to talk to you of the other room. We try to keep the conversation on Gor, Gor. Not what the latest clans are doing, or which Master in the BDSM room is screwing over His subbie, or whatever.

Please do not use a name already in use on Gor. Or anything that sound even similar. Lady Snow and Snow Lady are just too much the same. The same as SunFire and Sun Fyre. C’mon, that’s the same *grin*. May Odin help you if the other name gets into trouble! Then you will be blamed.

Use real letters; try to stay away from symbols. It is a dead giveaway to Vampires and/or very young players. Plus, it’s easier to read Lady Mystique, then it is to read £@d¥ ZY§T{Ou?, not to mention that symbols do not show up on every computer screen the same.

Try to stay away from such obvious slave names as “sweet surrender”, “submissive fantasie”, or “orgasmic rapture”. Names such as “Lady Sorrow” and “BrokenHearted” really have no place either. It is a bid for attention. Choosing a name that may be mistaken as a Rarius should be avoided. In the chance of a raid, or if someone has pics off, they have no idea if you are male or female, and there should NEVER be any doubt that you are a Free Woman. There are many beautiful names available to use. Keeping to something that is feminine, lovely and reflects you isn’t difficult. Check out any of the baby name sites, or ask your Sisters.

-Fonts-
If you know your caste, try to write the name in a font color for your caste. Green for Healers, Blue for Scribes, etc. The code for putting your name in a color is like this <font color=green> or if you know the code number for a specific shade of green, <font color=00CC33> then your name. *smile* This is only a suggestion, not a rule, and certainly, not all Gor follows it. You can use this Color Chart to find code numbers for many shades.

When choosing a font color, remember that darker ones are extremely difficult to read. If you do choose a darker color, don’t be surprised if no one speaks to you, we probably can’t see what you have written. When logging in, even if your name is on your avatar, put it on the log in, in a color that shows up. Many people don’t run with pics, and it’s frustrating to try to figure out who’s talking to you! And personally, I’ll ignore anyone who chooses a black font color for their name just to fool people.

When choosing a font size, let the default determine your writing. For your name, you may wish a slightly larger one, but try not to go above 5 or 6 or below 3. Check them out first in the room, to gauge what it will look like. The code to change the font size is this <font size=4>. If you wish to have some real fun, before you type in whatever you wish to say in the “says to” box, type <font size=2> and your message will be reeeeeeeal small and look like you’re muttering.

When choosing a font type/style, check it out in the room first. Some computers are not capable of handling fancy fonts, and it may look like this to everyone else….theaquickabrownafoxajumpedaoverathealazyadog.

-Avatars-
Also called av, avi, ava or any other shortened form, this is the picture some people choose to use as what their character looks like. A Free Woman is beautiful, graceful, modest and above reproach. Your av should reflect this.

Since you are a Free Woman, remember a few basic rules. And these ARE rules:
WebMaze(and ameeshia.com) asks that in Gor no avatar be higher than 250 pixels in size
no navels showing
no breasts, bums, long legs or vaginas showing
no earrings, bracelets or short necklaces (this is slave jewelry)
nothing obviously masculine
no obviously blatant sexual positions
no bondage pictures, shiny black leather

I realize some other rooms may not follow these rules, but they are by the scrolls, and if I see any picture that doesn’t follow the above rules, I will first ask you to remove the picture. If you do not, don’t be surprised if a Rarius collars you for acting like a slave.

Now these are a few suggestions, Sisters, not rules, but if I didn’t feel strongly about it, I wouldn’t mention it *Smile*. These suggestions if not followed will not bring down anyone’s wrath or a collar, but will show that you know nothing of Gor, and are not to taken seriously….
Anime pictures
Cartoons
Obvious comic book characters
Vampire type pictures
Angels, animals, ghouls….you get the drift

Even if you see others with this type of picture, do not ridicule them or correct them. If they wish to show their ignorance of Gorean culture this way, well, that’s their problem isn’t it? *soft chuckle*. You know better.

There is an unwritten courtesy on Gor. That no two people have the exact same avatar. I know we can’t possibly know EVERY picture that someone else uses, but please, if you see someone using a picture, don’t think “Kewl, I’ll use that too”. There are many, many good pictures to use.

Also, some people, myself included, pick an actress that reflects what I want to project as My character. These can be made into great avatars. Any can be changed around with the expertise of the Jarl or Myself, to make them uniquely yours. Veils can even be added if you travel to a city or place on Gor that requires the wearing of veils.

Note on that: I NEVER want to see a Free Woman of Vanir’s Fjord going into a city or place on Gor that requires veils, and post an av WITHOUT veils, but puts the words “With Veils On” under Your name. To me, that shows a lazy FW who didn’t take the time to get a veiled av, and there are MANY out there who make veiled avs. If you HAVE no veiled av, DO NOT put up a picture; go in with just your name.

In closing, choose a picture and name that portrays YOU. Something you will be comfortable with, and proud to wear. Until next time, be Proud, be Beautiful, Be FREE.

Module 2
Manner of Speech

Today I would like to take some time to instruct as to the manner of speech Free Woman use. I will try to separate this into “Rules” and “Suggestions”.

-Rules-
Free Women do not use foul or obscene language
Free Women do not screech and yell and go into temper tantrums
Free Women do not openly admire in a sexual way, any Free Men, thralls or slaves. Let Me quantify this one. To say, “Admires the play of muscles” is one thing, to say “Drools at those naked muscles, wanting to run My tongue over them” is really out. *chuckles*. We can admire beauty, but keep it in context with being a Free Woman.

-Suggestions-
Use proper English. It’s difficult to understand what point you are trying to get across when one tries to “type it like it sounds for a Scottish accent”.
Use proper English. No “U” for You, “R” for are. To me, this shows that you are probably on the computer instead of doing homework, and it’s probably grammar homework too *chuckles*
Don’t rush your post. Type it, read it, make sure it says what you mean. If you post something and someone starts getting upset, find out why.

-The Gorean “Language”-
A word now on the Gorean Language. Almost every webpage (ours included) had a “Gorean Dictionary”. Where this came from, I don’t know for sure. I was told that a linguist took the few words John Norman wrote in the books, and built more on that. There are two views on Gor about this language:

It adds to the ambiance of role-playing that we are on another planet, namely “Gor”; and
It’s stupid and not in the scrolls.

I will never fault anyone for using the Gorean Language. However, some rooms do not allow it, and will very quickly correct you for using it. READ THE WEBPAGE OF THE ROOM BEFORE ENTERING. This will clue you in to whether or not they allow such words as “Jashi” (thank you), “trik” (slave girl) and Ja Kar (My Love).

The words that ARE in the scrolls, include ones You’ve already used *smile* like “Tal”, “Ubar”, “Jarl”. Use these anywhere.

-Emotes-
A Free Woman can show much more by actions, than by what she says *evil grin*. All the words I’ve written in between the asterisks, denote action (also called emotes). Watch how it changes the simple phrase….”Oh really?”

*interested look*…”Oh really?”
*arches an eyebrow, incredulously*…”Oh really?”
*wry smile*…“Oh really?”

There are many good emotes you can use in the room from the emotes dropdown. Watch what other people use, or come in and try them all out when you are alone. A Free Woman should NEVER use some of them.

-Smirks and Giggles-
I would caution My dear Sisters to stay away from using *smirks* too often to a Rarius. Panther girls use *smirks* a lot, and while it’s not forbidden for Us to smirk at someone, it really isn’t something a Free Woman should do often. Of course, any emote you use must be taken in the context WITH what you have spoken.

Using “giggles” it totally up to you. I only add My observation here, please do not take this personally, or think I am pointing fingers, this is just an observation. Slave girls “giggle”, children “giggle”. Personally, it leaves Me cold if a Rarius posts “giggles” in the room *soft laugh*. If you wish to use “giggles” by all means, do so, it may actually be the way you laugh, and I am not here to change a person’s character with these modules.

-PM (Privately Whispers To) and ICQ-
Here’s a tricky subject. Is what is said in PM and on ICQ held against You in the room? Yes and no *wry smile*

Some hold to the belief that anything on ICQ stays on ICQ and not to be “used” against a FW when on on-line Gor. Too many times I have seen the opposite. Remember, the written word lasts longer, and many people are only too willing to waive “transcripts” around to prove their point. You’d be surprised at how many store all ICQ posts for years and years. Here is the way I deal with ICQ;

If I am ICQ’d by one of my Gorean contacts, I quickly establish if “Lady Nyx” is talking to “Conan”(v/t), or if it’s Roxanne speaking with Bob (r/t). If Lady Nyx is speaking with Conan, then I am on Gor, and very aware of how I address the Rarius.

Use your heads here Sisters, don’t do or say ANYTHING without first establishing the limits. If you submit to a collar in ICQ to a Gorean, I don’t care what assurances he has given you, sooner or later everyone will know, and it WILL apply on Gor.

It has been said that anything a FW says in PM is just that, PM, and not to be brought into the open. Mostly, this was for any sexual encounters, since a FW is supposed to be demure and modest *S*. Remember who you are talking to, just like some jocks like to brag in real time about what a hot time you were, so too, some will do this on Gor. It’s not up to them to set the limits you will go to during a sexual encounter, it is up to YOU to set limits, and will ultimately be YOUR fault if anything nasty ensues. Oh, a word of caution, sometimes you forget in the middle of a PM conversation to choose the PM!!! Then whatever You posted comes out in public *grimace*. Everyone has done this at one time. If it’s something embarrassing, immediately, in public POST THAT IT WAS A MISPOST!!!! Get all embarrassed, turn red, blush, whatever, and get on with Your life *chuckles*.

Lambasting a Rarius in PM is treading on tricky ground. KNOW whom you are talking to. They will be only too happy to bring it into the public eye and slap a collar on you, especially if you are winning the debate. Our words, Sisters, are the projections of our thoughts. Our thoughts reflect our intelligence. Our intelligence is really the only weapon Free Women possess on Gor.

Module 3
Free Women & slaves

In this module, I will talk about some differences, and a few of the feelings between Free Woman and slaves. This is a delicate subject, for if one is going strictly by the scrolls, FW hated slaves and tormented them, and slaves were afraid of FW. Woe be to the FW who was collared and fell in with the slaves she had previously ruled. Her lot was not a good one, revenge can be brutal.

If you wish to be like that with the slaves on line, that is totally your business. Your reception may be less than warm with their Masters once they find out. However, if you wish to debase the myth that Free Women are all bitches, welcome aboard! *big grin*. Here's a few hints I’ve learned over the last 14 months….

-Acting like a slave-
Slaves act like slaves. They can wiggle, and giggle and flaunt themselves in public, lap sit, nibble on Master, and otherwise do anything they can to glean the Master’s attentions. This includes the avatars they use, hot, sultry, and naked. Unfortunately for FW, some of the avs the slaves use are a bit embarrassing for a FW to look at. Sisters, there is nothing we can do about blatantly obscene avatars for the girls. They wear what their Masters tells them to. What the local Free Woman thinks is often beyond the Rarius, who are drooling over the av of that little dolly with the big jugs and spread legs masturbating herself with long red nails. The most you can do is turn off pics, or find some excuse to leave the room. I’m sorry, but this is Gor.

Free Women are graceful, witty, charming, demure, modest, intelligent and beautiful. This also describes slaves (except for demure and modest). Slaves are not allowed to hide their sexuality, please don’t fault them for that. Free Women do have a place in the grand scheme of things. The Rarius enjoy talking to us, because they know they don’t run the risk of having to fur us if they pay us a bit of attention. Oh, I can see your shocked expression already *chuckles*. Believe me, many Rarius have told me that it’s a refreshing change to simply talk to a Woman, without having to “go through all that cyber crap again”. Sisters, I ask you not to repeat that to any girls, it would hurt their feelings deeply and serve no purpose.

We cannot act like slaves. No lap sitting, overt sexual aggressiveness or slutty behaviour. So why do the girls seem to hate FW? Because for all their sexiness, and naked avs, and all the things they do to glean attention from the Rarius, suddenly this Free Woman comes in, and is having a great time without all those trappings. Remember Sisters, the Gorean slave normally has a fragile ego, and you can hurt her deeply. That is not why we are here. *shakes head softly*.

-Masters and slaves-
In the books, slaves are property. Few Masters “loved” their slaves. On line, the ratio is reversed. Those slaves are often loved, more than a Free Man’s own FC. This too, is a hard fact of on-line Gor We must get used to. If You are enamoured of a Free Man, and He has a slave (or several) get used to sharing. If You can’t share, either find one who doesn’t think this way, or get used to being single for a long time.

To go to PM and bitch, gripe and whine about Your Beloved’s girl will usually result in You getting pushed away. The slave serves a sexual, and an ego boosting purpose to the Free Man of Gor. There are many Free Men out there who would like to see FW disappear altogether, because of the actions of a few. How you act is going to ultimately dictate how a Free Man and His slave(s) act you towards.

This does not mean the slave should treat you with disrespect, nor be unaccountable for punishment should the slave do so, but the slave is HIS, and HIS alone. Keeping that in mind will make your stay on Gor more pleasant.

-Dances-
Free Women DO NOT DANCE in public. The exception is in the cities, where there are FW dances performed for dignitaries. In the Fjord, we are not a city, and FW do not dance in public. To do so invites a collar. ((note: FW in Kassau may dance at pre-approved events))

When a slave dances, it will be in three to several posts. Please be courteous when the girl’s dance. Read the dance and try to post something about it that caught your interest. If the dance is extremely graphic, and embarrasses You as a FW, (as most do) then find a Sister to chat with in PM. DO NOT post “yawns” or anything like that. It reflects badly on You.

Even if you did not read the dance posts, it is polite to at least say “Well done little one” at the end. These girls have put a lot into writing those dances, try to acknowledge something *soft smile*.

-Punishment for slaves-
If, for some reason (within reason) some slave has offended You, and that slave does not belong to You, You are within Your rights to reprimand the slave. Anything beyond caging and/or gagging the girl is reserved for her Master. Cut and Paste the posts and give them to the Master. It is up to Him to deal out any punishment, not You. Even if He does nothing, that is up to Him.

-Owning slaves-
Nothing stops You from owning a slave, girl or boy. Most slaves know a heck of a lot more about Gor than the Frees do, so try to do some research before plunging in. Slaves also take a LOT of time and attention. Be sure You are up to the responsibility before purchasing one.

-Serves-
The bond-maids here will offer to serve You. It’s up to You to accept or decline. If You accept, be sure You know what food and drink You are ordering. Read the “Foods” and “Drinks” pages. The serves are broken into several posts. Try to acknowledge a few of these posts from the one serving You.

At the end of the serve, the slave will ask if she can do anything else for You. If not, be sure to thank the little one and release her to the serving furs. She cannot leave until You do so.

-Chores-
Don’t let the slaves sit around being bored. We all know what that’s like *grin*. Think of a few chores, set the slaves to the chores. Try to suggest something fun to do, not just sweeping and cleaning and laundry. Torvaldsland bond-maids shouldn’t be idle. An idle slave gets into trouble.

Module 4
Weapons

A word about Free Women, weapons and fighting.

That said, here are the exceptions. Torvaldslander Free Women carry a knife on their belt. It is in the scrolls, as this passage shows (I've highlighted the weapon):

“The Free Woman was a tall woman, large. She wore a great cape of fur, of white sea-sleen, thrown back to reveal the whiteness of her arms. Her kirtle was of the finest wool of Ar, dyed scarlet, with black trimmings. She wore two brooches, both carved of the horn of kailiauk, mounted in gold. At her waist she wore a jeweled scabbard, protruding from which I saw the ornamented, twisted black of a Turian dagger; Free Women in Torvaldsland commonly carry a knife; at her belt, too, hung her scissors, and a ring of many keys, indicating that her hall contained many chests or doors; her hair was worn high, wrapped about a comb, matching the brooches, of the horn of kailiauk; the fact that her hair was worn dressed indicated that she stood in companionship; the number of her keys, together with the scissors, indicated that she was Mistress of a great house.” Marauders of Gor, Pg 156.

So dear Sisters, You carry a knife. For what reason though? Let Me re-emphasize that to draw steel on a Rarius will put you within His capture rights. A Gorean Free Woman does not draw a weapon against another individual unless she is under attack. Beware! According to his codes, to draw a weapon against a member of the Warrior Caste is to place yourself within his capture rights. This includes drawing weapons and placing them on a table or displaying such objects in a threatening manner to others in the room, without suitable provocation.

Use Your knife with discretion. Mostly, I use Mine for cutting things. We have them, just be careful how You use and display it.

We do have weapons that are acceptable on Gor. The most important weapon We have is our intelligence. Most Rarius are powerless against it. *BG*. We also have FW combs, those same combs that hold Our hair in place. These innocuous little trinkets are often overlooked. The tips are sheathed, and normally have sleep potion on them. Stab a Rarius in the arm, and nighty-night! We have brooches with sharp pins on them. We have rings with poison in them, or sleep potion. Please don't poison anyone! Find something really creative, like itch powder or sneezing powder.

You can use a sling. Since it's not steel, You shouldn't be called down for using one. Ask Cassandra about the best ammo for a sling *chuckles*

-Fighting-
Free Women of Torvaldsland do not fight. We have Our Brothers to do that for Us. Let Them *smile*, for it makes them feel all manly and stuff. You can defend yourself, if someone attacks You, but Free Women normally do not initiate the attack.

-Sparring-
Free Women do not spar on a regular basis, nor enter sparring contests. Yes, perhaps one of Your Brothers can show You how to defend Yourself. This is acceptable. Do so AT HOME, in the spar pit, and ensure You clearly outline that this is training for defence only.

-Free Women Raria-
No such thing on Gor. No Free Woman ever was of the Scarlet Caste. We are not as strong as a Rarius, and could never hope to beat them in a contest of physical strength. That's why Odin gave Us greater intelligence *grin*.

Raria is a made up word. It doesn't exist. No Free Woman of the Fjord is a Warrior, a Rarius, a Raria, a Panther or an Amazon. There is nothing wrong in being a Free Woman. It's a difficult role, and not many can handle it. Be proud in the fact that You have the grace, intelligence and strength to carry out this most honoured role. Don't try to be what You are not, and what Gor simply will not accept.

-Raids on the Fjord-
During a raid on the Fjord, all Free Women and slaves go to the Med Room and prepare for the aftermath. Other than Your initial post to run to the Med Room, DO NOT POST OUT LOUD DURING A RAID. It distracts the fighters.

Most Raiders will ignore FW, and will not attack FW unless the FW gets in the way. Getting in the way would be something like trying to trip them, pulling a weapon, throwing something at them, blocking their escape or killing their mode of transport. If You do any of these things, be prepared to be attacked.

After the Raid, the FW and slaves come out of the Med Room and go about either healing, or setting the Great Hall back to normal. Express concern over Your wounded Brothers, They just fought to protect You.

-Going on Raids to Other Camps-
Free Women of the Fjord DO NOT GO ON RAIDS. Never, ever, ever. We don't tell others that Our Men are about to Raid, We don't go and warn the room where Our Brothers will be raiding. Now, if You'd like to go and watch the Raid, that's okay. Go to the Home being raided and use "watching" or "observing the raid" or the like, put an ~o~ on, go and sit in the room and watch. No one should bother You.

After Our Brothers have returned from a raid, again, the slaves will heal and We can ask how the raid was. They love to talk about it!

-Captures-
There is a page on Our website on Captures. Vanir's Fjord is a capture zone. This includes You. If You do not wish to be captured, the instant We are raided, hit the "Leave" button and leave. It's important to hit the "Leave" button and not simply X out, because We need to record the time You left, so there will be no arguments on whether someone captured You or not before You departed.

If You are captured, a few guidelines: You will address the Rarius who captured You as "Captor". You will be respectful. You can't escape, You are not that strong. You must go where He says and remain there until We have either paid a ransom, or captured You back *G*. What You two do in PM is between You.

Module 5
Rarius & Free Men

Now here’s a subject dear to all Our hearts, Sisters. Well, most of Us anyway. The Rarius and Free Men of Gor. What are they? Animal, Mineral or Vegetable? In a way, that’s not far off the mark.

First and foremost, Men are the Masters of Gor. No way around that, it’s a fact. Now, some are a little easier to believe as a Master of Gor, and some are right out to lunch. An intelligent FW will NEVER, EVER in anyway do or say ANYTHING to Free Men that will jeopardize Her freedom.

Of course, if You WANT to be collared, do whatever comes into Your head and stop reading these modules. *chuckling softly*.

For the rest of this module, I will just use “Rarius”, but it means any Free Man of Gor.

-Staying Out of a Collar-
Dear to every true Free Woman’s heart. What can get You collared? Well, just about anything. Fortunately, most Rarius are honorable and will warn You, about three times when You have stepped over whatever line that particular Rarius has set.

There is an old question....”What reason does a Rarius need to collar a Woman?” The answer.....”None”.

Sucks, huh? Well, Gor is harsh, Gor is not fair, Gor is just Gor.

These are definitely collaring offences....
Drawing steel on a Rarius
Acting slutty like a slave
Public sexual demonstrations
Verbally abusing a Rarius
Slapping, striking or hitting a Rarius
Being overly mouthy, obnoxious and argumentative

Use common sense, judgement, intelligence when dealing with the Rari. Remember, most Men have a *clears throat* frail ego. If You stomp on it, be prepared to get stomped back, often with a collar as Your prize.

So, what do You do if You are in the room, and sometime during the conversation, for no reason You can see, the Rarius posts....”slaps a collar on You”?

Immediately ask Him, In PM....what He is doing? If You answer a “collar” post in public, it sticks. Start copying and pasting everything that was said that could possibly have any meaning to this action. Save it. If the Rarius says, “I collared You because I want to.” Or some other such answer, ICQ Your brothers and get them in there. Again, DO NOT ANSWER A COLLAR POST IN PUBLIC. Let Your Brothers deal with it. Pretend You have frozen. If no one replies to Your ICQ for help, save the transcripts and x out of the room. Don’t use the “Leaves”. If You use the “Leaves” then it proves You were not frozen.

This, of course, is what You do if YOU ARE IN THE RIGHT. If You really deserved this collar, then accept it. Not all Rarius want a slave that was a Free Woman. Some think that if a Free Woman has acted up, perhaps a night in the collar, seeing what a slave is, will educate her.

Keep a cool head here. If You were in the right, and this slapping a collar on You really unnerved You, watch Your mouth and actions. What may have started out with You in the right, can quickly turn to You being in the wrong if You freak out.

Once more, and I can’t stress this enough...keep the transcripts! Show them to the Jarl, and LET THE MEN OF YOUR HOMESTONE DEAL WITH THE IDIOT.

Normally, in most of Gor, a FW who has acted up will be caged, maybe gagged and returned to Her homestone to await the displeasure of Her Leader and Brothers. Be honorable here, Sisters. If You were in the wrong, accept Your punishment and learn from it. It’s not the mistakes one makes that dictates honor, but what you learn from those mistakes.

-Types of Rarius (The Cornucopia According to Nyx)-
Here are the ones to look out for Sisters. *rolls eyes*

--The Know It All or Gorean Book Thumper--
He will come in and start spouting off. The more He speaks, the more You grit Your teeth. This guy has ALL the books, memorized and saved and categorized, and He’s ready to post it to prove Himself right, and You wrong. He may bait You, taunt You, and yes, insult Your intelligence. This guy is probably 30 years old with a 5-year-old mentality, a 17-year-old chip on His shoulder and something to prove. He picks on FW and slaves, because He thinks he can. Ignore Him. Talk to Your Family, have a ball. He’ll go away eventually, especially when He sees He’s not getting a rise out of You. Mostly, the more He talks, the sillier He looks.

--The Jeckell and Hyde--
Sometimes starts off nice, makes You His Friend, then stabs You in the back when You’re least expecting it. Watch closely, they give themselves away with their low self-esteem. He will immediately back down when confronted with the truth. In some cases, this is not as much His fault as the fact that He is being “Mentored” by several different Rarius types. He hasn’t figured out where He fits in yet. He may have tried playing a boy at one time, or may be very new to Gor. Basically, hold this one at arm’s length, until He finds His own place.

--The Stud or Slave Sniffer--
This one thinks He has a 10 inch cock, a face like Mel Gibson, a body like Sly Stallone and every Woman on Gor is drooling over Him. He can be crude, lascivious and outright disgusting at times. He wants to screw everything F/female and breathing. The slaves are scared of Him, the Free Women are repulsed *chuckles*. Sometimes He has a chain of girls who follow Him around, with numbers on their collars to show how really good He is. He’s always looking for that next slave to own, and is not too particular about who it is. Be polite, demure and then ignore Him. Again, do something else, talk with Your Family, have fun, stay Free.

--The “True” Gorean Male--
We’ve seen this one too. He thinks that Women should shut up, FW don’t have an opinion, heck, FW shouldn’t even be playing on on-line Gor. He won’t greet You, or if He does, it will just be a “nods”. To Him, all FW are just slaves without a collar. He doesn’t want You for HIS slave, He just wants to see You in any collar. Let Your Brothers deal with Him. Ignore Him.

--The Perpetual FC or The Romancer--
He’s looking for an FC....anyone to FC. He has flowery language, will try to go to PM right away, say pretty things, make Your heart race. He’s a charmer! He’s had about eight FCs already this month, but....sigh....none of them worked out, none of them really understood His needs. This guy is a weenie, that’s why they left. Be polite, stay in public talking with Him, talk about Gor, talk about the Homestone, heck, talk about pantyhose, anything but hitching up with this loser.

--The Combination Player--
Very dangerous. Starts out like The Perpetual FC and once You are starting to respond, becomes The Slave Sniffer, with YOU as the next slave. Nuff said.

--The I’m So Cool Cuz Now I’m Gorean Asshole--
So new to Gor He squeaks when He walks. He’s usually about 18 years old (or younger....shudders) and just found out about on-line Gor, picked up a Superman av and came to join the party. Understands NOTHING about Masters, slaves, or Gor. He just likes to think He’s better than You because He read somewhere that on Gor, the Men RULE. How to spot Him? Uses sentences with no spelling or grammar, like...”How R U?” He calls slaves “M’Lady” if He came from the Theme Rooms, and/or has an avatar 3000 pixels high if He came from the Vamp Rooms. Tries to do magic sometimes. Politely direct Him upstairs, then ignore Him.

--The Nice Guy--
I really feel sorry for this one, really. He’s nice. He may or may not know a lot of Gor. What totally confuses this gentleman, is that after about a week on Gor, He has several woman “madly in love” with Him, and can’t figure out how it happened, or how to shake them. A teddy bear. Be nice to Him and treat Him with respect, and like a younger Brother. This one usually can be taught where He went wrong, but let Your Brothers do that.

--The BDSM Gorean, or Ultimate Master--
I’m rolling My eyes already. HE thinks He’s the Ultimate Master. A lot of the girls think so too, but this one is easily spotted by His girls. They are “princesses”. Those slaves who are more sub than slave, who don’t do anything but cuddle with Him, and who pretty well ignore anyone else besides a polite giggle and greeting. He likes Gor, because the real slaves here are much better trained than the subs He’s used to, are always hot and ready, and don’t talk back like the vanilla slaves upstairs. Be wary of Him. He can be nice, and is probably extremely intelligent in manipulation. You are just an uncollared slave to Him. He prides Himself on getting FW into His collar, and He just looked at You.

-The Rarius as a “Friend”-
Can a Rarius be Your Friend? Yes, I am happy to say He can. He can be Your And (blood brother by choice), a Friend, without the sex. This, of course, depends entirely on the Rarius. One who is a Friend will talk with You, laugh with You, guide You and NEVER, even jokingly, threaten a collar.

-Your Homestone Brothers-
Going along with what was said above as a Friend, Your Brothers in Your homestone are precious. They are there as Family. To protect You in times of Raids or trouble. To interact with You, laugh with You and be there for You. Treat them with utmost honor and respect, as You would a real brother. You can joke with Your Brothers, and still stay within the FW boundaries. Act in a way that will make Them PROUD to call You Sister.

The True Gorean Rarius is here Sisters, don’t despair. They are all around You. The Ones who are secure in Their Manhood and don’t have to “prove” they are Masters by putting You down, baiting You, and proving You wrong or screwing You. They have a sense of humor, can admit to a mistake, are strong and You just know it. They make You feel like a Woman and a Sister. You like to be around them, get a sense of “rightness” about them. Module 6
The Free Companion

Tal once again beautiful Sisters! Of course, before reading this module You have read the Vanir's Fjord webpage pertaining to Free Women, and the one about Torvaldsland Free Women. Gasp! You haven't? Well, go and read that first, then continue.

Good, now You know, according to the scrolls what a Free Companion is. But not much is said on the courtship, and the aftermath, huh?

I like Him, does He like Me? Where can I find an FC? I don't know how many times I've heard these questions in PM. *chuckles*. If You only came to Gor to "find a man, get married and go have cybersex", there are a lot of other realms You can go and play in to achieve this. Gor is much more than just this, and if You're here to find true love on the internet, I will quickly direct You to the door. Being here is the entire role play. One doesn't have to be FC'd to achieve fulfillment, just like in r/t one doesn't have to be married to be a real woman.

-The Courtship-
A Rarius has been coming around a lot lately. He is very nice to You, compliments You, and starts bringing You presents. He talks to You more than He talks to the slaves. Chances are, He's interested and is trying to decide how to "make the first move". Of course, You two could have been cybering in PM or on ICQ for days already. *shrugs* I don't wanna know. What I am here to explain is the Courtship process.

If You are receptive to His intentions, find out what those intentions are! You could be the next slave He's looking at. (Read the Module again on Rarius). But if everything is on the up and up, He will approach Your Father, eldest Male member of Your family, or in their absence, the Jarl and declare His intention to court You.

Courting should be done in public, with a chaperone, if You keep to the standard of a demure, chaste and modest Free Woman of Gor. Believe Me, that is how You want to be portrayed. Act slutty, and You may find a ring of steel around Your neck instead of a ring of gold on Your finger *soft laugh*.

What's allowed in public? Soft glances, warm looks of love, hand holding, walks together, sitting together, anything that slaves do NOT do. No lap sitting, passionate kissing, groping or fondling.

-Being Intended-
The next step is to be "Intended". When Kurzon courted Lady Nyx and was accepted by Me. Our names changed on the log-in. He became "Kurzon=/Lady Nyx. I logged in as Lady Nyx=/Kurzon. The "=/" shows all of Gor You two are engaged. Other Rarius will probably not approach now, as You are sort of spoken for.

-The Bride Price-
The Father, eldest Male member of Your family, or Jarl will now set a Bride Price. That is, the amount of money They feel You are worth, to lose to this Rarius. Sometimes in Our Steading, this is left to Lady Nyx. *evil grin*. The FC cannot happen until the Bride Price is met and paid to the Jarl.

-The FC Ceremony-
You've already read this on the page. Make it as personal as You wish. Get a new av, throw a party, and invite Your friends. Some make up announcements and post them, some announce it on the message board.

The only things that are standard, is the CONTRACT and sharing the Cup of Companionship Wine.

Your name will now read (to use Kurzon and I as the example) Kurzon/Nyx. This shows You and He are Free Companions (married). You will follow Him wherever He chooses to live, even if He's from another homestone.

Now in public, You can be a bit more demonstrative. Still nothing slutty! But You get the picture *grin*.

-The Contract-
You've also read about this on the page. Anyone in Vanir's Fjord who is going to FC, will provide a written contract outlining the conditions of the FC to Lady Nyx. Again, what You put into it is up to You two.

-Afterwards-
Congratulations, You are now FC'd for ONE ENTIRE CALENDAR YEAR. The only way an FC Contract can be void here, is if one of You are enslaved or one of You dies. Kinda final, huh? So please, make VERY sure this is "the one". I am serious. If You FC someone and then change Your mind, You are stuck with Him for one calendar year. We will allow a separation, but the contract is still in effect and neither one of You can FC anyone else until that year runs out, according to Gorean Law.

Of course, You can kill off Your character and get out of it that way. It's up to You.

A word on infidelity, if You are caught cybering with another Free Man while You are FC'd, You can face collaring, or death. If Your FC is unfaithful to You with another Free Woman, You have the right to void the contract. Cybering with slaves is not considered being unfaithful on either of You.

Once You are FC'd, do NOT go around blatantly flirting with other Rarius, and do not be unfaithful to Your FC. You've chosen Your partner, honor Him! You now come under Your FC's rule. His word is law unto You. Your actions reflect upon Him. At the base of every Rarius' bed, is bolted an iron ring. If You displease Him, You may find Yourself chained to this ring, naked and spending a night on the floor. Remember this. A Woman of Gor who is a Free Companion has more restrictions than a Free Woman who is single. So think long and hard before You put Yourself at the mercy of one particular Rarius.

-Intimacy-
What You do for Your FC in the privacy of the bedchamber (PM or ICQ) is between YOU TWO. Bring it into public, and face the consequences. Watch Your pulldowns while in PM.

-Pregnancy-
If You decide Your character is pregnant, congratulations! You will be pregnant for NINE MONTHS….nine REAL months, not this "oh this is cyber so I can go for a week" shit. Your av will change to SHOW the development of the pregnancy, and once the baby is born, You WILL look after it. I am so tired of these FW going through all the dramatics of having the baby, then You never hear of those "children" again. So be VERY sure You want to do this, and play it as real as possible.

This is a most serious topic, Sisters. I hope I haven't put a damper on Your expectations. But I've seen too much after My year on Gor to budge an inch on any of these conditions. So if You decide to go the FC route, HONOR it! If You decide to have cyber children, make it as real as possible. I don't care what You may have seen or heard on the rest of Gor, this is how Vanir's Fjord does it.
