Characters 'G'

G

Garn - one of two soldiers who delivers Trumpkin the Dwarf to the island of the "Ghosts" after the latter was captured on the way to Cair Paravel to receive the help which is to come to Caspian in Prince Caspian. He is shot in the helmet by Susan and swims away to the mainland of Narnia. He is quickly followed by his companion who is addressed only as 'Corporal'. (Garn may also be a sort of expletive, such as "for Pete's sake" or "come on, now". The cabby in The Magician's Nephew also uses the same term when listening to the Lion sing.)

Garrett twins - referred to as the loathsome Garrett twins. Two of several bullies who pick on Jill and later see Aslan's back when Jill and Eustace return to England in The Silver Chair. Terrorized when they are whipped by Eustace and Caspian with the flat of a sword.

Gentle Giants - in the city of Harfang near the City Ruinous in The Silver Chair. The giants are considered as gentle and courteous as the Northern Giants are considered cruel and stupid.

Giantess - cook in the kitchen at Harfang in The Silver Chair. Is directly responsible for enabling Jill and Eustace to escape from Harfang by leaving the scullery door open, through which the children leave the castle.

Giant King and Queen - at the castle of Harfang in The Silver Chair. They receive Jill and Eustace into their city with plans to eat them in the Autumn Feast. Are witnesses to the children's escape from Harfang.

Giant Nurse - attendant assigned to care for Jill in The Silver Chair.

Ginger - a Talking Cat of Narnia. In The Last Battle, Ginger sides with Shift and the Calormenes. The cat verifies with the Calormene leader that Aslan is no more than Tash. Ginger enters the Shrine of Tash and is scared witless when faced with the demon. Is changed back into a dumb beast for his treachery.

Girbius - a faun. Sent by Patterwig to meet Caspian prior to the Council on Dancing Lawn in Prince Caspian.

Glenstorm - the centaur who predicts war with Miraz in Prince Caspian. A stargazer and a prophet. Is sent by King Peter to Miraz's camp with Edmund to issue a wager of clean battle.

Glimfeather - a talking Owl of Narnia. Is the first talking beast Jill and Eustace meet in Narnia in The Silver Chair. Introduces the two children to Trumpkin and delivers the bad news that the king has sailed for lands east. Delivers the children to the Parliament of Owls and ultimately to Puddleglum, who will guide them on their adventure. Brings message to the children before they leave that they are to meet Rilian at the wharf where they first came into Narnia.

Glozelle, Lord - in the army of Miraz, one of two men who conspired with one another to destroy Miraz in Prince Caspian. When Miraz falls during single combat with King Peter, Glozelle rushes forward and stabs Miraz with a spear, killing him.

Golg - an Underearthman. Originally from the land of Bism in the deepest parts of the earth in The Silver Chair. Captured by Puddleglum for information while he, Rilian, Jill, and Eustace were escaping from Underworld. Golg, after learning that the overworlders were not enemies, leads them to the opening to Bism and points them in the direction of the diggings which lead to Overworld (Narnia).

Griffle - a black dwarf in The Last Battle who, in the face of being rescued, denounced Aslan and Tirian and announced that the dwarfs are for the dwarfs.

Gumpas - Governor of the Lone Islands in The Voyage of theDawn Treader. Is removed from office after failing to comply with Caspian on the matter of slave dealing.

Gwendolyn - a young girl of Beruna who first spots Aslan in the city streets in Prince Caspian. Gwendolyn is invited to join the revelers as they parade through the city, releasing 'captives' as they go.
