What is it about BOYS? I tell my son to pick up his room and he looks at me like I sentenced him to a life in prison. My daughter will argue but eventually start picking up. My son gets in there and it is so overwhelming, he stops and starts playing with some toys he was going to put away. I went in to clean out the unused or too small clothing out of his closet yesterday. Since I couldnt get to his closet without stepping on 100 little toys and other stuff I said the big bad Mommy words- " PATRICK..... Come Clean up this MESS!" Strickened and panicked he looks at me and says, "What mess?" We spent the next hour organizing his room for the 6th time THIS Summer!!! Of course while I am cleaning and ordering him to do certain tasks, he quietly tried to disappear half of the time. We did get the closet and room picked up with less yelling this time. I was proud of myself for that.
Well, to catch you up on the cleaning of the under the house storage closet. I armed myself with a closed in shoes and bug sprayed myself. I head down with broom in one hand and bug bomb in another. I carefully make my way through the fallen oak leaves ( there are snakes out here you know!) Once I get to the door I swept around it and used the broom to de cobweb the outerside. I opened the door carefully and had a blast of cold air. I am glad we air condition the place, I guess our house is not as insulated as I once thought. I put my hand around the corned and push the button to turn on the makeshift light that is down there. A humongus spider is on the wall next to the light. YIKES! I use the broom and clean up the webs and run the spider off from that area which my hand is near. I arm the bug bomb and place it on the door without even going into the small room. I turn off the light ( saving electricity like a good mom does) and shut the door! I will return later but not until everything in there is dead!I went to sweep the garage and laundry room and switch the laundry over instead. Life can be so exciting eh?
Well it is Saturday early morning. My family is asleep and what I see when I look out m beautiful full glass windows is dark clouds and MORE RAIN... I know we prayed for lots of rain last summer during the burn ban and drought but good grief. It is a year late. John tells me all this rain will mean a very interesting winter. Great. Maybe it will clear up by this afternoon and we can go on a bike ride. ( motorcylce- that is). Well at least is isn't hot. Have a great weekend.
