OK, 100 Best places to live in the US was the title that caught my eye at yahoo news this morning. You can go to CNN's website for the complete listing: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/moneymag/bplive/2007/states/TX.html

These were on the top 100 from the State of Texas:

City Population
Friendswood 31,500
Grapevine 49,400
Hewitt 12,600
Keller 35,900
Mansfield 36,800
Schertz

My SIL, Jennifer lives in Keller, however I have never been there. I do love Grapevine Mills mall but unless I was planning on moving back to the metroplex, there is no way I would move there and deal with all that traffic. It gives me the willies just thinking about it. I did notice that whoever did this survey did not look at towns at population less than 7,500. I guess that is why my community is not on there. I love this small town. It has the cute main street and a beautiful new nature preserve. It has antique stores, coffee shop, old movie theater, bed and breakfasts, good restaurants, and a super walmart for all our needs. I guess I don't ask for much but the price of my home and the amount I pay in taxes every year is well worth having to drive 2 hours to get to shopping and visiting the relatives in DFW area. I guess it all depends on what you find important in life. I love the pineywoods. I love the beach. I like to shop, but I prefer to spend my time reading and relaxing with a good cup of flavored coffee. So when it comes down to it... I am pleased to live where I do. I hope you are too. Have a great Monday. I plan on doing nothing today. :)

Well, I doubt the story mentioned small towns, but I'm sure in the future there will be stories about urban sprawl. As more and more people are able to work from home, more people are moving to little villas like ours. Royse City has grown a great deal since we got here three years ago. Twenty-five minutes from Dallas and lower taxes and the belief that there is no crime. And WalMart is just a short drive away. Who needs the city?
