Entry for July 24, 2007  Sunday afternoon my husband and I went for a bike ride on his new Honda Shadow. We cruised several East Texas highways and ended up at Lake Quitman. If you have never been to Lake Quitman, you should go. It is a small recreational lake. You can camp right next to the water. It has a little marina that also hosts a BBQ restraunts. It is only opened on weekends. It was quite pleasant. You can look it up on www.easttexasguide.com . Another recreational lake that we really enjoy is Lake Hawkins. There is a park there that we stay at for Boy Scouts and Girl Scout Camping. It has a nice beach and rentable cabins. It has a pavillion that you can rent for family reunions and parties. There is an enterance fee to that park but it isnt costly. There is also Tyler State Park that has a manmade lake. It has a swimming area and a platform you can swim to. It also has a entry fee per carload. Above is a picture I took of Lake Quitman. I miss the gulf coast beaches, but when I see the calm waters of the Lakes and the families enjoying them, it feels that void in my life. Take some time out this summer to relax and enjoy God's beautiful world. Go have a picnic and swim day at a local lake.
