Thank the Lord my life has calmed alittle since I last posted. All our busyness is about to change to a different Busyness - THE HOLIDAYS. I am not ready. Let me catch you up.
Along with the birthdays - We had a big Veteran'd Day Celebration. The boy scouts won 1st place ($100) and the Girl Scouts won 2nd place ($75) in the American Legion's Vet Parade. It was awesome since we bought T-Shirts with the Theme of the parade and that cost us $79.00. I am donating the $4 to the girls funds. I am attaching pictures to our flickr site when I get a chance.
The Veteran's Memorial at the end of the Parade was awesome considering I had a suprise waiting for my husband. My neighbor Ron Walenta is an Admiral in the Texas Navy. He also works for the State of Texas and is a commissioned personnel in Austin for the Management at Risk programs. He has access to information that I never knew was out there. He sent in a request to the State Capitol to acknowlegde John's military service retirement and also had him commissioned as an Admiral in the Texas Navy. We got certificates signed by Rick Perry the Govenor of Texas and Ron and his wife Janie had them framed and mounted for me. ( Early Christmas gift, they said when I tried to pay them back for that.) Anyway, Ron was dressed in his Admiral Uniform and got to announce and read the certificates to John in front of the Veteran's Day crowd. It was avery special moment for us. John was completely overwhelmed but did a good quote for the local newspaper. Above is a picture of John ( Boy scout leader uniform and sun glasses) and Ron ( dress whites announcer). Holding the certificates was the guest speaker Ret. Commander Jackson with the American Legion Post.
Congratulations John. You deserve it! I love you.
