What a week!!! I am so glad spring break is only a week away. I am planning to rest at least two days that week and get caught up on my sleep. It will be grand. So what has been going on? Well, Monday we had to prepare for TAKS. We had a TAKS academy where all the teachers and students went to different rooms and did activity skills to help them pass the TAKs which they took on Wednesday. It went fairly smoothly but it throws the parents off when they want to come get thier kids out of school for doctor appts and stuff. It seems a challenge to get the parents in this town to agree with us that it is important for thier children not to miss school! DUH! The teachers seem so burned out too. They keep calling me to get subs and it is difficult to cover all the classes when I have Tennis, Softball, Baseball, Golf, Track going in different directions on the same school day. It is wearing me out calling and cancelling substitutes. I had to cancel 5 subs yesterday due to the weather canceling our One Act Play and Baseball tourney. Thursday we had a scheduled track meet but the bad weather didn't come in until everyone had travelled here, so we had some ticked off people. Along with all of this we have had the police at our school three times for three separate incidences. Oh the JOY of it all. Can you tell I am ready for a break? So are the kids!
I have been fighting an ear infection all week. I finally got a ZPAC on friday and hopefully that will take care of it. John still has a cough from being sick two weeks ago. I am trying to convince him to see the Doctor. Patrick has been well and Jaclyn is fighting something, we don't know what. She is fine one day and the next she is seeing the nurse about headaches and stomachs. IDK.
And as all you Texans out there know, friday's weather was bizzare. We went home Thursday pretty sure there would be a 90% chance school would be called off. No not here. It rained all night and as we were going out the door it starts to snow. It didn't get cold enough for it to accumulate at all in our area. As soon as it hit it melted. That is what happens when the ground is still warm from the 70 degree weather we had for several days before. However surrounding counties had some accumulation. Weird! We got amazing pictures from Denton and Keller that showed people even got to make snowmen. Patrick was really bummed about having to go to school. So was I. Here is a picture taken from our door out to the yard. You can't even make out the snow fall. I got heavier as we drove to school but the roads were fine. By afternoon it was cold and sunny! Amazing!
Well I have quite a few things coming up on my calendar. The biggie is spring break!
March 15th - Day Trip to Paris with Key Club members
March 17-21 Spring break. Jaclyn has softball games Tuesdays and Thursday of that week so we are tied to this area for the middle of the week. I hope to make it to Irving for at least two nights. Looking at maybe coming up Sunday and being home in time for Jaclyn's bus trip to her away game on Tuesday. John has taken off all week so that may change to an overnight trip.
March 21-24 is Good Friday, Easter, Easter Egg Hunt, and Inservice day Monday.
March 28-30 Senior High Youth Retreat- Kaye and Jaclyn will be out of town.
April 4-6 Key Club District Convention in Dallas at the Adam's Mark. I am taking two senior girls to this. So John and kids will be home.
