I know it has been an incredibly long time since I have blogged. Well let me get you up to date.
I was busy with Project graduation at the high school, end of year stuff and Miss Mineola Pageant up until June 21st. On the week after we all had dental appointments except for Patrick - his was this week. Last week he was away at Camp Pirtle Boy Scout Camp for a week. He had a great time and worked on his merit badges - fishing, rifle shooting, swimming, leather making, first aide, ect. On Tuesday June 24th Dad went into the hospital in Tyler for Lung Cancer surgery. He had a lobe removed from his left lung. We have been driving back and forth to Tyler daily last week and over the weekend. He is still in the hospital. He is not eating well and this worries me. He is still in pain and losing weight. Please add him to your prayers.
In my spare time I have been reading novels by Lori Copeland and Susan Anderson. I read also read Janet Evanovich's 13th book in the Stephanie Plum series. I love that series and can't wait to get my hands on the 14th book.
Jaclyn is keeping us hopping back and forth to town with her Softball practices and games. She was on one of the M. Youth Foundation's senior girls teams. They beat the other town's team for district and took second in district. They play in the state tourney on July 25-27. She was also picked up by a summer high school team for our town to play in tournaments over the summer. She has games on weekends for that usually Saturdays. They are supposed to end their season with a tournament in Brownswood, Texas. She is going out with a boy names John who is also going to be a sophomore in high school. They have been together for several months now. She is staying up late at night and sleeping late in the mornings sometimes until noon. She will go to camp with her best friend Stephanie's church youth group next week for 4 days and then come home and turn around the following week to go to the First Baptist Church's youth group camping trip July 13th for a week there with her boyfriend John. She is like me. Not much down time. At the end of July we are enrolling her in driving school. She is very excited. We have been teaching her for a couple of months now on the country roads and she is doing a great job. I do not look forward to the car insurance going up next year. But my grandmother gave her a car that I have been driving as well. It is a 1998 Oldsmoblile Intrigue four door sedan white with gray interior. It is in great shape and has 93,000 miles on it. Needs a paint job where the paint is peeling and has some minor dents from hail damage but it will be a great first car. We hope to get the auto shop at school to paint it for us in the fall. Jaclyn loves the car and is excited. I love that it is free and works! Hallejulia God is good!
Patrick is doing great. I told you about his camping and boy scouts. He is also into a new thing called WarHammer. He puts these models together and paints them. They are miniture game pieces and you create your own armies. He is working for our neighbor Ron and trying to earn more money so he can get more game pieces. The sets are $20 - $100 each. Not cheap. We look on e-bay alot and go to Tyler's Hobby Town USA store. The Grapevine Mills mall has a Warhammer gaming store. He is also into his movies - Indiana Jones series, Patriot, and Braveheart have been the popular ones lately. He loves his gaming computer and playstation 2 and plays all kinds of strategy and war games. Smart young man.
John has been working too much and way too hard. We invited his family to come up from the DFW area to join us in BBQ on the 4th of July. He needs a break. He will enjoy this upcoming 3 day weekend for sure. Other than work and helping my dad out and fixing things around the house he hasn't done much else other than see Jaclyn's games and church. I need to find him a hobby. We got a portrait done with the Hainesville Volunteer Fire Department fundraiser. I pick up the pictures Sunday. It is just John and I since Patrick was at Boy Scout camp the day they did the pictures. It would be weird to do a family pic without him. lol.
Me? I keep trying to have some down time and read and do nothing but my house is calling me to clean it up after ignoring it for a year. So I am about to clean my bedroom ceiling fan and attack anything else that needs to be done before company arrives. I also plan to go into town and get my hair cut and pick up supplies from the dollar store. We haven't been able to be home long enough to take the kids to the local pool. Hopefully we will have some down time to get to do things like that this summer. We are nearly completely out of debt. One more credit card payment and two more minivan payments and we will only have our mortgage left. Yipppeeeee. I am enjoying reading and playing with our new kitten Maverick. He is a tiger striped kitten with white underbelly and gray on the top. He is probably 13 weeks old and very playful. He and the dogs are trying to co-exist. There is a little trouble in that department since Scooby and Cinnamon like to chase cats when they are together. Scooby hasn't accepted the kitten. I have caught Cinnamon sleeping with the kitten so I think he is okay with the entire thing which is good since they both sleep in Jaclyn's room. :)
We have to forgo the vacation to Florida we were thinking about due to gas prices. That really ticks me off but hopefully next year we can do something for the kids. We should be finacially better off. This fall is my 20th high school reunion. I am also turning 40 this year in November. It is going to a very interesting year for me. I already am starting to feel old. I can't believe Patrick will be 13 and Jaclyn will be 16 in the next school year. Good Gosh!
Well, I can't think of anything else to update you on so have a great 4th of July. I will try to blog more often. ;) Catch you later.
