We beat Quitman 34 to 27....whoooooohooooooooooooooo!

High School Football ...Last week we beat Quinlan Ford! Mineola 41, Quinlan 8 in our first season game. This week we played closer to home and our town rival. It looked ugly the first half ending with Quitman 20 Mineola 13. Mineola made a come back in the fourth quarter with two touch downs ending the final score in the last minutes of the game Mineola 34 Quitman 27. Quitman's number 2 can run faster than anyone in that game.. reminded me of another running back Cory J. What an exciting game! Next week is our first home game against Grand Saline!

Sooo what have the Morris' family been up to? We have been busy this week. Jaclyn had her 3rd week of Driving school M-Th 6-8pm and her first time for instructional driving was last Wed. She did good. The drivers ed lady used her as an example in class. With half the class from Mineola and half from Quitman, conversations about the game should be interesting this week. She drives again twice this week. That keeps me running her back and forth to Quitman. She has a cross country meet next weekend on the 13th. It will be the first one she has participated in this year. She should be ready with these early morning before school practices 3times a week.

Patrick went to Boy scouts and they are planning another camping trip in the Tyler area. He is enjoying his ART class very much! This years classes are going very good for both my kids. I am so relieved! Now if I can get this boy to brush his teeth and comb his hair without having to remind him!

John is busy with work. He is trying to drive his motorcycle to and from but the weather all this past week has been rainy except for Friday. On rainy days he drives Jaclyn's car. Hopefully we will continue with the rain and cooler weather but stretch it to one or two days a week, our gas bill is growing!

I had my first girl scout meeting last wednesday. It went well. We have five returning and one new one right now. We set the calendar and are planning the bridging ceremony for the next meeting. I have sign up night on Thursday and hope to get a few more girls. We really need closer to 10 girls. Brownies seem to be the age when most girls are interested in joining. I get a few fourth graders. Once they hit middle school and high school they are too busy!

I had my first Key club informational meeting this week also. We had 43 students show up. That is awesome if they all join. I at least want 33 members since that is our number from last year. Hopefully they will all pay their dues and join. We get a patch for paying dues early and they issue patches for growth 25%,50%, 75%. Last year we got the award for 75% growth. COOL! Next meeting is the Kiwanis Pizza party and planning the homecoming dance and new T-shrt design. Stephanie, my club secretary and I hopefully got our reports turned in on time yesterday.

Pep Rally Fridays keep me incredibly busy at work. We have abreviated class scheduling, no reading period, earlier lunch, and lots of office traffic. With covering classes, lesson plans due, selling football game tickets, taking phone calls and dealing with parents my day is filled. I have been trying to work extra pay duties and Thursday I worked the door at the middle school volleyball game for 3 hours after school. Next weekend I will not be giving the ACT because there are only 9 students signed up. Usually there are at least 3 rooms of 15. So I may get asked to work the Volleyball Tourney at the high school gym on Saturday. It pays ok, every little bit helps.

That is about it for us. IF your wondering about the ORANGE it is our school colors... Orange and White. Yes, I am proud of our kids! Go Jackets!
