ROAD MARSHALL INSTRUCTIONS
As a road marshall, you will be guided to a position somewhere within the confines of the rally stage, usually at an intersection.
Your duties in that position are as follows:
Tie banner guard across intersection to effectively block any and all traffic from entering the rally stage.
Park your vehicle WELL BEHIND the banner guard to avoid flying rocks.
An Advance Vehicle will pass your location approximately one hour prior to the scheduled start time of your stage. If you have any questions or concerns, stop this vehicle and talk to the operator, Mike Greene. Once the Advance vehicle has passed your location, NO ONE is allowed to enter the rally stage from your position.
If you have spectators at your location, keep them back behind the banner guard, and give them whatever information they may require regarding start times, etc.
Approximately 20 minutes before the scheduled start time, a pace vehicle should pass your location at something comparable to rally speed. If you have any problems with spectators, stop this vehicle and get the problem FIXED.
Your first car should start at the scheduled time. If there is a delay, you can judge how long it is by the time the pace vehicle passed you. Add 20 minutes and expect a vehicle, coming at rally speed, shortly.
After all competitors have run the stage, a SWEEP vehicle will run through the stage.
Once the SWEEP vehicle has passed your location, you may allow spectators on the rally stage and you may leave your position. NEVER ENTER THE STAGE, OR ALLOW ANYONE ELSE ON THE STAGE, UNTIL THE SWEEP VEHICLE HAS PASSED YOUR LOCATION. THERE MAY BE RALLY CARS STILL ON THE COURSE WHO HAVE BEEN DELAYED, BUT WILL BE RUNNING THE STAGE AT FULL SPEED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If your stage is running again later, remember to return to your position AT LEAST ONE HOUR PRIOR to the start of the first car scheduled for the second run through.
After all competitors and the SWEEP VEHICLE have passed your location for the last time, take down your banner guard and any instruction stakes and proceed, with caution, onto the stage and out to the main roads. As you head toward start or finish, stop at all locations and pick up stakes and banner guard, to clean the course.
Bring all banner guard, stakes, signs, etc. to either the start/finish of your stage, or back to the awards location where it can be cleaned, bagged and prepared for storage.
Have a GREAT time, enjoy the event, and STAY SAFE!
