The suburb from above Toyota's National Customer Service Centre, 1992

The original caption for this publicity photo from early 1992 was "Toyota's new National Customer Service Centre in Palmerston North, now nearing completion." It also shows the edge of the residential area of the suburb as it was then, with the closest visible houses fronting Hillcrest Drive. Part of the extension to Mahaere Drive is evident but the extent of the progress is uncertain. In the foreground is Roberts Line (since upgraded) and the Hawkes Bay railway line.

The paddocks at the left front the Toyota building upwards are largely covered in light industry as at 2007. The stand of Macracarpa trees in the distance are still present, with Mihaere Drive passing directly beneath them en route to Roberts Line.

The small straggly trees (the remnants of the originals) on the fence lines of the farmland shown above the building are 'prickly acacias' - should anyone be interested. They have a similar effect on passers by as the stereotypical barb wire fence.
