Between the Thieves by John Haramia

THE INNER CIRCLE OF ETERNITY

These records are from ancient times. - 1Chronicles 4:22

around the throne, were four living creatures, and they were covered with eyes, in front and in back. The first living creature was like a lion, the second was like an ox, the third had a face like a man, the fourth was like a flying eagle. - Revelation 4:6,7

Each of the four had the face of a man, and on the right side each had the face of a lion, and on the left the face of an ox; each also had the face of an eagle. - Ezekiel 1:10

"Father, tell us a story please!"

"Thrice upon a time there was the One, but He was not alone, because within Himself He was Three: and the Three were One, just as the One was Three. From deep within the Three-in-One came the desire to create, to do something new-sprung, to do something more. Hence come four: to Three-in-One were added a four. That makes a total of seven, the number of completion. The Creator rested. The four were angular and they became sided: a lion, an eagle, an ox and a man encircling a throne. The Creator called them cherubim, four-sided, from the four winds.

"In conjunction with their appearance an axis became created, lines intersecting and connecting the compass points of the four, the first cross. For God had entered into His creation, and whenever He does, there is a cross. This new creation of four comprised an inner circle of friends, a fraternalism of sorts, not unlike the relationship of the apostles: James, John, Peter and Andrew. There was abundant rejoicing, but not forever. As so often happen with brothers and friends, there was a rivalry between them as to who would be the greatest of this inner clerical. Who would sit on the right hand and who would sit on the left hand of the throne; and even worse than that, there was a desire of one of them to be number one, to sit on the throne. The man (and coincidentally this is what the name Andrew means) became tempted by what he assumed to be an empty throne; he just didn't have the eyes to see (or the heart to hear) the invisible Spirit of the Living Creator. In addition, this, soon-to-be-fallen, cherub was unable to comprehend the implicit cross, a sign that the invisible Creator had entered into His creation. If the man had patiently meditated on the empty throne (the mercy seat) and its meaning, he would have discovered that the Creator was indwelling the lion on the East. Indwelling the lion (just as a standard was later flown toward the sunrise when the tribe of Judah camped around Moses' tabernacle in the wilderness). But the man was in a hurry. He had no patience. His mind became consumed with getting to and sitting on the throne first. There wasn't time to think or pray. Tragically, the man had failed to recognize and to appropriate into his own heart something called love. Good old fashioned charity; the act of being last, the act of being concerned with others first; with where they are, and with how they are doing, not just with grabbing what has become left behind, the kind of love that goes into a good old-fashioned, home baked-for-others apple pie.

"This is what the Creator called it: 'Pi.' I know the question that you will ask, 'What is Pi?' How can you make pie when you only have numbers? How can you take 7 and make Pi? Well, there's a secret: 'He must increase, but I must decrease.' You have to become less, so that others might become more. You have to be last, so that others might be first. You must divide yourself into bits. The way an ear of corn does when it dies and spreads its seeds. This is love, dividing your self and multiplying to others. That was His formula. The perfect number to divide yourself into if you are seven and you want to make Pi is 22. The Creator knew this. He knew all! (7/22=3.142857142857142857...)

"It was His desire to instill Pi in all that he created, an ability to take your time and repeat yourself slowly, precisely and consistently until those around you are able to understand. Pi, like mass, gravity, or the grave held things together. Pi is what the Creator used whenever He had a problem. Whenever there was a problem in heaven, there was a slice of heaven, a division, a slice of Pi to solve things, a little love.

"I digress. This is what occasioned the use of Pi. Back when there were only seven, the man in a hurry whispered to the lion on the East and said, 'I am the eldest of the four, the elder brother. Come, let us seize power together, take-over the empty throne. A man and a lion together, we can conquer and rule over all of creation.'

"The lion answered him meekly saying, 'Yeshua,' (Joshua-Jesus-Jehovah is Salvation!) To the man, the refusal, at first, sounded almost like a sneeze, and he, without thinking as usual, automatically responded, 'God bless you!'

"When he understood the response; he became filled with hate and overcome with rage. The lion had refused to join with him in his sin. He realized immediately that the younger brother was now an encumbrance, someone who knew about the treachery in his heart. When first the opportunity arose, the elder murdered the younger; the man slew the lion. It was much easier than he expected. This lion went down like a lamb.

"Next, the man went on to tempt the ox. He said 'Come, yoke yourself together with me. The two of us, we can rule together. I will sell you my birthright. You can be number two, and after we get rid of number one, you'll be number-one! Just join me.'

"Here we see another eternal truth; sin and misery always love company; they can't stand to be alone with their thoughts, with their Creator. This is the fundamental definition of the Greek archery term, sin: separation, the separation of the arrow from the bull's-eye, the gap between perfection and us, between Him and His thoughts, us and our efforts.

"This is where we begin to understand the man's real problem. He didn't understand anything. There was nothing-solid standing under him, no rock merely sand. He hadn't ever redeemed the time or used the season to meditate on creation, to learn the lessons that come from within. Because he misunderstood the invisible nature of God, he was without clues as to the triune nature of God (strikes one and two!). Consequently, he considered himself to be number two in creation (strike three!). Without taking the time for prayer and inner guidance, he was tragically uninformed, operating under his own abundant, faulty assumptions. In doing so he was continually not only repeating but compounding his mistakes as well. Already, he had squandered his birthright with the murder. This became shown quite clearly by the unwitting blessing, he had given to the lion just before killing him.

"It didn't matter that the man became without a birthright left to sell, because the ox, his next target, was a hard-worker, but not a genius; and he had no way of knowing it. The ox did not specialize in discerning truth. His preference was small talk and gossip. He was the type that had become easily flattered, and the man knew it. The man continued his enticement, 'You can have your birthright, and be number two, and after we grab the throne, you'll be number one. You'll be the High Priest. We can make images of you for everyone to worship, golden calves. We'll have a really first-class religion. There will be a lot of work to do. You like work, don't you? It won't be like what we do here, wasting all our time meditating, around this empty throne, wishing we were somewhere else. There isn't any work a man and an ox can't accomplish, once given the chance.'

"Well, as I said before, the ox wasn't very astute. He had read all the right self-improvement books, and this looked like a good career move to him, certainly better than ending up like the lion, whatever it was that had happened to him after he had talked with the man. He wasn't quite sure. Actually he was a little bit afraid. So like an ox to the slaughter, he decided to pull this bandwagon. He didn't want to be late for the boat! Surely, this was his big opportunity, a shrewd choice, even if he really didn't understand it or feel good about it. No one likes to become left behind, progress and all that, you know. He blindly agreed.

"The two vowed a vow. They exchanged birthrights and marks of confederacy. The man received a tattoo and the ox became branded. With the signs of their rebellion permanently affixed, they continued on around the circle to spread this misery. Together, they approached the eagle, the youngest of them all, not unlike the apostle John of Christ's inner circle. Like John, he was a visionary. After all he was an eagle, wasn't he? Even though he was the youngest, he was the wisest of the remaining three. As the rebels approached he was aware of their plans and their intent, because in his meditations and prayers he had received a vision from the Creator who was privy to their thoughts. Their new markings only confirmed on the outside what God had already shown the eagle on the inside. With a voice that sounded like thunder, this son of thunder, this fourth archangel, the number seven of creation, shouted, 'Michael!' Translated it means, 'God Almighty, who is like you?' - Psalm 89:8 And simultaneously, the force of his statement and his righteous standing with God Almighty threw the new number six who had been number four (who had thought he was number two) out of heaven like a lightning bolt!

"The first thunder and lightning, that is my proclamation of the story of the inner circle. Now you children know why James and John became called the sons of thunder. You know why James was the first Apostle to die and why the name Andrew means 'man.' You can even see that there is a reason why Andrew is missing on the mount of transfiguration, strikingly similar to the tribe of Daniel's, the supposed tribe of the 'antichrist,' - 1John 2:18 absence in the book of Revelation. Think on it children, and might the Lord bless you with His insights.

"But Father what's the moral, isn't there a moral?"

"Surely, the moral is: when you have seven and you want to get rid of one of the seven you must use Pi, a little patience. Pi will always eliminate the number 6, the rotten egg, so to speak. Quite frankly it doesn't take all that much strategy to maneuver the rotten egg into the number six position. It just takes a little arrangement, a little patience, a little love and the knowledge that evil, through it's greed and lust, always maneuvers itself into an untenable position. It just takes the meekness and the sacrifice that the lion displayed working in accordance with the boldness and power that the eagle showed; each in his own time. Timing is everything. There is a time for every thing, for every season.

"The most wonderful thing about Pi is you get a new thing, the number 8, (the children of God) to replace the number 6, (the fallen cherubim). (3.142857142857142857...)

"It's rather like recycling. You have gotten rid of the problem, while at the same time making something new and useful. Do you understand? Evil is self-destructive. In the end it will always maneuver itself into an untenable position. It just takes time and patience on our part, and then a willingness to speak and act forcefully and righteously at the proper point in time. Our Creator is not missing. He is just waiting for that perfect opportunity to rid this planet of evil. From the looks of things, that time may not be far off. Evil has just about run its course. The hour is getting late.

"Now, I suppose you might wonder why there is only one 3 in Pi and why it is separate from the others."

"No not really father."

"Well, it's because there is only one separate holy triune God at the beginning of all creation and He is a repeater. Haven't you heard this one before? Two men are out on the lake. One became named Pete, the other Repeat. Pete falls out of the boat. Who becomes left in it?

"Do you think the answer is Repeat? Don't get on that treadmill. Avoid beginning with a faulty assumption. If you're assuming that Repeat is in the boat, he's not. He is out on the lake, but he's not in the boat. He's walking on the water. The answer is no one. No one is in the boat. That's why someone is trying to steal it. Repeat forsook the relative ease and comfort and safety of the boat long before Pete fell out, because he knew that old Pete would need help. As the writer of Deuteronomy so eloquently states, 'God is your refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms.'- Deuteronomy 33:27 Our Savior is a repeater: (3.142857142857142857142857...) 1

1) Pi (a non-repeating number) is presented here as a repeater. I see it as analogous to the unfathomable God of Eternity taking on the constraints of a body, coming to dwell with us, the Word made flesh, something more understandable, instructing us, redeeming the time.
