Fire

Fyre looked down at the place that must be Nidus Ryslen, with a feeling that could only be awe. She'd never seen a place like Ryslen before. She'd never been in the air before. She'd definately never been on a dragon before. Anyway, weren't dragons suppossed to be dangerous, deadly and eat humans?

Fyre shook her head, Obviously not.

The view, and the flying were nice, and breath-taking. But they were not the things that gave her this feeling of awe. It was the dragons. Oh, the dragons. Fyre must have been looking at eighty at least.

It was quite a shock.

Flames

Another egg broke open almost violently, revealing a large and clearly masculine red hatchling marked fully with clouds like his mother. The boldest of the male candidates stepped towards the red, but he would have none of them. His choice had been made instantly - and she knew it. Fyre stepped right out and knelt before the hatchling. There were startled noises in the crowd, but the fierce red practically melted into her arms. FireStorm Arekith chooses the girl Fyre. Linneth announced.

Ashes

Fyre smirked from her perch atop Arekith's back. Arekith glided skillfully above his year-mates on one of their many practice-flights. Arekith was more heavily-muscled than many of his fellows, and had taken to flight like, well, a dragon. But better than his year-mates.

Oh, let's scare them Arekith.

Yes, let's. And with no more warning than that, Arekith tucked his wings tightly against his sides and dropped down, hurtling through the dragons who were taking to flight with more care than Arekith. Fyre exerted her fire-starting powers slightly, conjuring a mantle of sparks around and behind them. Several of the riders shrieked and exclaimed in surprise and fear as the large dragon plummeted too close for the comfort of the half-trained dragons and their riders.

As soon as the large red had passed through the group, he snapped open his wings and used his momentum to swing straight back up and between the other dragons, until he was several dragonlengths above them again. Several of the riders looked angrily up at Fyre and Arekith, and a few of the other dragons bugeled in anger. Fyre laughed at their anger, and Arekith gave the draconic equivalent of a laugh, while at the same time he laughed mentally.

Embers

Fyre looked across Nidus Ryslen from high in the air on Arekith's back. The pair had originally thought to stay at Ryslen for Arekith to chase before going back to Otykaii, however, none of the females rising at their three-year home interested the red FireStorm.

This hadn't been too much of a problem, no matter how little Fyre knew of other places like Ryslen. Arekith had heard of a dragoness that he wanted to meet (how, Fyre wasn't sure, Arekith was as antisocial as his rider), and so the pair were going to Lantessama Isle before heading homeward.

Let's go, Arekith.

Already gone, Arekith replied fondly.

Arekith touched down lightly, with a grace unexpected in one so large. Fyre slid off of Arekith's back, unhooking the harness obediently as he crouched down. His attention, however, was focussed upwards, where a rather uniquely coloured dragoness was sunbathing.

Fyre smirked, it was rather obvious that they'd be staying here.

Arekith launched himself as soon as Fyre had stepped sufficiently, but the large red surprised his rider by rising to a ledge opposite the dragoness', instead of going to talk to her. Fyre frowned, before snorting and shaking her head. Who knew Arekith would be shy!

I am not shy! Arekith protested.

Suuure you're not, Fyre replied good-naturedly.

Arekith replied with a mental snarl. Fyre turned midstep and stuck her tongue out in the direction of her dragon. However, while she was stepping backward she --of course-- couldn't watch where she was going and she bumped into something. Turning around Fyre found herself looked into the eyes of another woman.

"Hello," the woman greeted in a friendly tone.

"Heyla," Fyre responded absently, "My dragon is here to chase, if you could point me in the direction of the Prima, that'd be great."

The woman smiled, "You're in luck, young lady. My name is Trix, and I'm the 'Prima' of Lantessama."

Fyre inclined her head respectfully, "My name is Fyre, Draconar of Red FireStorm Arekith."

"Welcome, I'll have someone show you to your rooms for while you're here so you can put your things down, and then they'll show you around the Isle." She smiled, "I hope you enjoy you're stay, and good luck. Wait here for a moment, and someone will be here shortly." Then she was gone.

* ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ *

When Fyre had put her things away and had something to eat, she went in search of the flight board, Who is it that you're chasing, Arekith?

Crestless Red-Black-Green-Gold Rainbow Purple Kindraimanth Arekith replied promptly.

Fyre raised an eyebrow, And I thought your name was a mouthful.

Fyre felt the red FireStorm sigh, Fyre, how do I... woo her? How do I impress her? I... don't know what to do that won't make her dislike me while she's proddy.

Fyre blined in surprise, Arekith was asking for advice in love? Fyre blinked again, I don't know, Arekith, who's her rider, I'll talk to her and see if she can give me any insight into Kindraimanth's personality...

Arekith coughed, Her bond's name is Turbananuth, but... he's not here... and he's a dragon.

Fyre blinked again, Oh. Well. I'd have to say, Arekith, that you should just talk to her. Don't be... irritating, or overbearing. Just be your usual charming self.

There was a long pause before Arekith answered, Fyre... I'm not charming.

Fyre shook her head, Yes you are, Arekith. Just talk to her. Ask her what she likes, get to know her, see if you guys have anything in common. Bring her... food, or something... do dragons like flowers? Nevermind, see if Kindraimanth likes flowers, if she does, bring her some. Be a gentleman. Find out if she'd be impressed by physical prowess, and if she is, then be your handsome self. Maybe she'd like it if you brought her a wherry, or whatever passes for one here.

Arekith was silent for a long time, digesting Fyre's advice, So... act like I do with you? Except... more manners?

Exactly. And make her feel special. Now I'm signing you up for her flight.

...Thank you Fyre.

Fyre smiled softly, a rare occurance for the stiff woman, It's my pleasure, Arekith, now go woo that Crestless Red-Black-Gr... uh... dragoness.

Arekith laughed softly in the back of Fyre's mind.

Burning

Arekith caught Crestless Specral Kindraimanth!

Read the hatching here!

Fyre watched the hatching of Arekith's first clutch with a slightly bemused smile on her face, Arekith made a most amusing father. Everytime one of the eggs split he cooed the most rediculous praises for each of his beatiful children. Only to Fyre, of course.

That wasn't to say that they weren't beautiful, they were. Some even glowed slightly, Fyre was told it was a by-product of her bond's FireStorm nature.

When the hatching was over Fyre dropped down to half-hug and half-drape herself over Arekith's shoulders. Arekith sighed, I quite liked this Fyre.

I did too. You sire beautiful children.

Arekith puffed out his chest proudly, That's what I thought too. Arekith tilted his head to one side, contemplating, Fyre, I should like to do this again.

Good for you, you'll let me know when you find another you want to chase, right?

There's this beautiful Starry-

Fyre sat bolt upright, "What?!" people looked over at her, curious at her outburst, You've got another one picked out already?!

Arekith had the good grace to sound chagrined, It was a long time between the flight and the hatching... I had spare time...

Fyre sighed, Alright, who is she and where are we going?

Starry Breeronigeth at Darkling Dawn.

Fyre is Draconar of Arekith at Nidus Otykaii.
