A German, an American and a Canadian are on a train to Sintra.  The German says to the Canadian...  OK, so I couldn't make a joke out of it, but it sounds like it could have.  The next day, the Canadians I hung out with the first few days went off to Seville while I stuck around.  An American and a German and myself did a daytrip to Sintra.  It's a small town about an hour or so outside of Lisbon.

The guys had to buy raingear when we realized how hard it was raining.

The postcard says there's a big castle on the top of this mountain.  Yeah, right.

Yes, a stunning view from the top of the castle.

"Hark! The invading hordes approach!"

While walking back from dinner, we ran into this odd fellow (on the left) who just waves at passing cars all night long. He's a local celebrity. Cars would drive by and honk and wave at him. We got into the game with him for a while.

That night, we met up with an Italian guy named Alessandro. I found out later that he was staying in the bunk above me that night. We hung out and he convinced me to stay in Lisbon another day. Then we would go to Lagos together. So, I had one more day of sightseeing around Lisbon.

At the end of the day, he just picks up the car and walks home with it under his arm.

Torre de Belem - a 14th century harbour fortress.

We met two Craigs: one from Ireland and the other from Australia. We called one "Highlander" and the other "Dingo".

We didn't just want to stand around like idiots smiling for a picture, so we acted like idiots instead.

I love palm trees

Met my first Italian babe!

We met up with more people and for some reason, they all picked our room to party in before we hit the bars. You can't see it, but all my underwear was drying on a line stretched across the room. Thankfully, they were all new pairs.

Padrão dos Descobrimentos - a 60's monument to Prince Henry the Navigator.

Next stop, Lagos, Portugal!!!!
