"I Will Send Your Material to the Committee"
Kent Hovind has established a publicity stunt known as the $250,000 Challenge to provide "empirical evidence for evolution". See this analysis for more details. This stunt could by itself be classed as a lie, for the fact that Hovind as hidden the entire judging process behind anonymity, as well as the location (or even existence) of the prize money.
However, the verified examples of lying occur in the screening process. Before the challenger has the opportunity for their material to be presented to a committee of unknown judges, in the hope of winning a prize of unknown existence, the material is screened by Kent Hovind himself. In two confirmed instances, Hovind has acted with the intention of sending presented material to the anonymous judging committee only to renege
The first known instance was when Thomas Artiss presented his case. Hovind stated he would send his material onto the committee. There has been no further correspondence, from either Hovind or "the committee".
The second instance was when Ron Rayborne presented an argument for "change between kinds" using polar bears as an example. Hovind twice stated in writing he would send the material to "the committee". The exchange ended when Hovind unilaterally decided that polar bears "are still bear [sic]". The full exchange is hosted within this web site.
Liar, liar, pants on fire!
