Sun path diagram (also known as "solar path diagram", "sun chart" or "solar chart") is a visualization of the sun's path through the sky. This path is formed by plotting compass direction or azimuth (left-right) and elevation (up-down) angles of the sun above the horizon in a given day to a diagram. The radial lines indicate the azimuth, South being down. The circles indicate the angle of the sun above the horizon. The lowest (blue) line shows the path of the sun on December 21st, the Winter Solstice or shortest day of the year in the northern hemisphere. The upper most line, the Summer Solstice or longest day, June 21st. ( The red line shows the solar path on the day the chart was generated, July 31) The dots along the line are the time of day. You can generate a solar chart for your own area at www.gaisma.com |
