< return to Members index pageJessica Wigley![]() ![]() Jessica's Thoughts on Gentle Mothering![]() Gentle mothering is the way I interact with my child 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It can't be explained in a step-by-step list or checklist. It's a mindset of gently guiding my daughter. Why do you feel that gentle mothering is so important? I feel that the Lord has gently parented me for all of my years. He has now entrusted me with a daughter. Why shouldn't I extend that same grace, mercy, and love to her? To show her God's face through my own? Why do you feel that God wants you to parent this way? The Bible speaks to children when it tells them to obey their parents. (Col 3:20) This verse does not say, "Parents, make your children obey." It is my duty to bring up my child in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. (Eph 6:4) I think it's very important that the Lord put nurture and admonition together. Through the nurturing of my child, I can show her God's grace, love and mercy. And through nurturing admonition, I can help her understand how and why to obey God's laws.
Jessica's TestimonyI was raised in a Christian home, yet strayed from the Lord in my years at college. When I got married, my husband and I started attending church. We immediately felt "at home", and our adult Christian lives began. I've spent the last four years growing closer to the Lord. Taking all things to Him in prayer. Learning to trust Him with all things. Studying His Word. Spending time in fellowship with other Christians. And spreading His Word to my friends. It has been the most joyous time of my life. I know I am saved. I know I will spend eternity praising my Lord and Savior. It's a feeling of faith. It's a feeling of the Holy Spirit inside me. That's how I know.
