Lisa's Thoughts on Gentle Mothering![]() Gentle mothering has many aspects. It includes respecting my child, empathizing, forgiving, communicating, loving her unconditionally, gently and lovingly leading and guiding her, teaching her about Jesus, speaking kind and encouraging words, knowing my child and her abilities and limits, meeting her needs, trusting her, showing her that she is an important member of our family, and positive discipline. Why do you feel that gentle mothering is so important? Gentle mothering is so important because it is through my mothering that my child learns how to love and treat others. If my child is treated with love, understanding, and empathy, she will grow up to be an understanding, caring, loving, empathetic adult. It is also important because through gentle mothering, my child learns how she deserves to be treated. She learns that she is a child of God and is loved unconditionally and forgiven. She also knows that she is a joy to be around, and that I love being her mommy! Why do you feel that God wants you to parent this way? God wants me to parent this way because it is through our parenting that our children first learn about God. I am a child of God, loved unconditionally and forgiven. He pours out is grace, mercy, and patience on me every day. It is through my mothering that my child learns these truths. Lisa's TestimonyI grew up in a Christian home and have been a Christian all my life. I believe that Jesus is my Lord and Savior. I believe that He came to Earth as a little baby, lived a perfect, sinless life, and died on a cross for my sins and the sins of all people. On the third day he rose again, and later ascended into Heaven. Here are verses from the Bible that tell me I am saved:"That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved. As the Scripture says, 'Anyone who trusts in him will never be put to shame.'"(Romans 10:9-11) "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. "(John 3:16)
