Marcella Brazelton![]() ![]() Marcella's Thoughts on Gentle Mothering![]() Being a gentle mother means a lot to me and it has proven itself to be an excellent way of raising my child. When she was very little (the first few months), she was crying all of the time and we couldn't figure out why. A lot of Christian Moms suggested that I put her down and allow her to cry...even if it took hours to calm her down. I didn't listen to them, but instead listened to a friend that told me the above. I listened to my instincts and we held our little girl constantly, we slept with her (often times I slept with her in my arms), and responded to her every cry. When she was four months old I took her to the doctor because she was so unhappy and she was losing too much weight. Come to find out, I was not producing enough milk to sustain her. After holding her sobbing and apologizing, I gave her formula. She was like a new baby. I thank God every day that I didn't put her down. Can you imagine not being able to communicate thatyour tummy is hurting and then being left alone in your crib screaming? I shudder to think that some Moms and babies go through this every day.
Marcella's TestimonyI have known the Lord pretty much my entire life. I am grateful to Him for my life...my family. I am a Christian, not out of anything I could have done, but out of grace. He died for me not because I deserved it, but because He loved me first. What an amazing God!!
