Block port numbers in Norton Internet Security/Norton Firewall Part II

6. In the next Add Rule box, select the protocol to block (you have to know which): TCP, UDP, ICMP or TCP and UDP, click Add (Fig. 6):

7. In the Specify Ports box, select the Filter by and Locality options and tick the port number from a list, or enter individually specified ones or from a range (Fig. 7). Here, port 135 is ticked as an example. Click OK.

8. This returns to the previous box and the bottom box shows the ports you've added. When you've finished adding them click Next (Fig. 8).

9. In the next Add Rule box, select the options as appropriate (Fig. 9).

10. In the next box, add a name to the rule to remind yourself (Fig.10):

11. Check the settings carefully and press Finish or go back to amend your settings (Fig. 11).

You have created the following rule to block Internet communications

Afterwards

Check the settings are in place afterwards (Fig. 2 in Part I). The custom settings will be listed at the bottom of the scroll window.

Check the ports are closed and in stealth mode with an online scanner.
