CLIJSTERS PART OF TOP 20!
Kim Clijsters is in the latest issue of Tennis Match, a popular tennis magazine. Not only is she featured in the magazine as one of 20 up and coming players to watch (others include Jan Michael Gambill, Maria Antonia Sanchez Lorenzo, and Lleyton Hewitt), but she also has a feature article. It's called "From Belgium With Love," and it talks about the parallel struggles and triumphs of Belgian players Clijsters and Justine Henin. They both delt with their mothers having cancer, winning a first career title, and almost upsetting top players at Grand Slams. I shall have the article up soon! Due to a 4th round showing at the Ericsson Open, Clijsters' ranking has increased from 30 to 28. Clijsters received a "bye" in the first round. She won her next two matches, but No. 1 seed Martina Hingis of Switzerland took her down with a 6-0 6-4 win over the Belgian. But in retrospect, the tournament helped Clijsters' ranking!
