WHAT'S NEXT FOR KIM?
Want to see Kim in action? Here's the lowdown on where to expect to see her in the next couple of months.
STANFORD
You can watch her kick butt just next week in Stanford—The Bank of the West Tennis Classic tournament from July 24-30. Clijsters is seeded no. 13, so congrats, congrats to her for that achievement. It will take place in California at Stanford University. Last year's finalists were Lindsay Davenport and Venus Williams. Davenport won the match 7-61 6-2. Hopefully, we'll see Kim in that final next week. Unfortunately, at this point there is no draw available. Kim didn't play here last year.
SAN DIEGO
This is another tournament that Kim didn't show her face in last year, and she might not show her face in it this year, since it's not verified if she'll play. No wonder Martina Hingis def. Venus Williams 6-4 6-0 to take home the 1999 trophy. Kim was no where to be found! Acura Classic will be held obviously in Sand Diego, California, famous for their comprehensive zoo! There is no draw available here, but we do know that it's from July 31-August 6.
NEW HAVEN
New Haven, Connecticut, a nice little town where Pilot Pen takes place. Venus Williams is the defending champion after beating Lindsay Davenport 6-2 7-5 in an entertaining final. Pilot Pen, a company that makes school supplies, will have their tournament aired on television, as it did last year. It will take place from August 21st to August 27th.
FLUSHING MEADOWS
Flushing Meadows! New York! US Open? Okay, now you care! Obviously, Kim did play here last year. How could we forget? She almost upset defending champion Serena Williams in the 3rd round. Who knows, by that time, Kim could possibly be in the top 20. Let's keep our fingers crossed that Anna Kournikova keeps dropping in the rankings, and Kim keeps rising! The United States Open will be held in Flushing Meadows, New York from August 28-September 10.
