Davenport Defeats Clijsters
Nearly three dozen unforced errors proved to be Kim Clijsters's undoing as she slumped to a disappointing 6-4 6-0 loss to defending champion Lindsay Davenport on Day 7 [of the Australian Open].
While she managed to fend off 10 of the 14 break points held against her, Clijsters didn't take advantage of her lone break opportunity on Davenport's serve.
The world No.2 blasted 21 winners and won 81% of points on her first serve to earn a quarterfinal showdown against Anna Kournikova or Barbara Rittner.
