KIM EXCELS IN DOUBLES

Kim Clijsters hasn't been as consistent in her doubles career as in her singles career, but she has done exceptionally well. At the latest, Clijsters has gotten to the final of the Mexx Sports Benelux in Antwerp, Belgium. Her partner, fellow Belgian Sabine Appelmans helped get her there. Unfortunately, they lost to Jennifer Hopmans and Petra Rampre 1-6 1-6. Still, Clijsters has been very successful in doubles and is improving constantly. She is ranked eighty-third in doubles. Unfortuntely, Kim's ranking has dropped in singles, although only one space from 28 to 29. The main reason is because she lost in the second round at Antwerp, and it was her first tournament since the Ericsson Open in March! If Kim had been playing more tournaments and being the great player she is, she could have been closer to the Top 20! But Kim's school work is very important to her and her family, therefore she has a smaller schedule. Since Kim isn't playing a tournament this week, it's pretty obvious that her next tournament is Grand Slam- Roland Garros, better known as the French Open.
