TAUZIAT FINISHED—LITERALLY; KIM AND LLEYTON!

Kim Clijsters made a major upset this afternoon when she defeated 7th seed Nathalie Tauziat of France. Clijsters beat the French woman 6-3 3-6 6-2. The young Belgian leads their series with 2-0. Their previous meeting, which took place in Fed Cup was a loss for Tauziat in straight sets, 6-1 6-4. You must feel sorry for the tour veteran though. The 32 year-old is one of the oldest players in the tour, and she's set to retire at the end of the year. Tauziat was very distraught and emotional after the loss parce que it's her last Wimbledon, and she really wanted to make her last time on the British grass a good one. As tears sprang from her eyes, she said in an interview, "One day I have to stop. This year I wanted to play well here, and I didn't. That's it. I'm finished." After the match, Clijsters had this to say, "I've had some tough draws this year, but you have to beat [the seeds] in the first round or later. You have to go for it. ...My level was really good today. The crowd was behind me, so that helped me a lot." Clijsters was one of many players to knock-off a seeded player today. Others included Gala Leon Garcia who ridded the tournament of 13th seed, French-woman Amelie Mauresmo. Dominique Van Roost of Belgium was ousted by American Jennifer Capriati. Clijsters' next opponent is Anastasia Myskina of Russia. In other news, Kim's in love, and not just with anybody, but with Aussie star Lleyton Hewitt. The youngsters who were French Open mixed doubles partners had ironic match results. Hewitt was upset in straight sets by the un-seeded American Jan-Michael Gambill, while Clijsters upset the seeded Tauziat. Clijsters dished on the Australian saying they're not staying in the same room and it's tough not always be around him!
