Fact 1:
Lleyton Hewitt was in the crowd the day of the 2001 French Open women's final, of course to support his girlfrend Kim in her first Grand Slam final. When Kim delivered her speech, she spoke in French, but Lleyton didn't speak any French himself. So whenever the French crowd started clapping during certain parts of Kim's speech, Lleyton would quickly start clapping too, although he had no idea what Kim was saying!
Fact 2:
Kim received the Karen Kranzpe award in 2001 for Best Sportsmanship by a player. The best part is that the players of the WTA Tour themselves voted for Kim to receive the award!
Fact 3:
When Kim won the Seat Open at Luxembourg in 1999, she also won a car. But she was only 16 years old, and didn't have her driver's liscense yet, so she couldn't drive it. |
Fact 4:
In a German magazine, Martina Hingis apparently said the only ATP player that she would like to date is Lleyton Hewitt because he probably wouldn't feel uncomfortable with her no. 1 status. But why Lleyton of all people?! Maybe Martina is a bit jealous of Kim's no. 1 status in the player romance department! |
Fact 5:
One thing amazing about Kim's game is that she can slide while doing a split to reach a ball that is a little out of reach. Kim usually does this with her forehand. The most amazing part is that she can do this sliding split on any surface. She even does it most on hard court! |
