Black eye incident
Hey, remember me? Charlie Simpson? Yeah, the tall lad from Busted ages ago… Looking back on my life, looking at all the fun things I’ve experienced and the less fun things. Can you remember James? The blonde one, cute fellow? And can you remember Matt? Matt; the one with the weird hair and changed it all the time. Brown with blonde stripe, blonde with black stripe, blonde, blonde with dark roots, brown with red tips… You name it, he had it. Anyway, about Matt. Do you remember he wasn’t there at one of the signings? That he said he had the flu but the photographers caught him shopping having a black eye? Yes, that. He did have a black eye. He may have denied it for ages, but I’m just gonna say what happened. It wasn’t Nicola from Girls Aloud. If she had even tried to raise her arm I would’ve kicked her ass… Anyway, what happened. Me and the lads were at a party somewhere in London… “Whoa! Look at the girl over there!” Matt pointed to the right of me. And indeed, a girl was sitting there, absolutely gorgeous. “She’s so gonna be mine!” Matt stood up from his seat and walked over to here. I watched him, introducing himself to the girl, offering her a drink and then… he was moving too fast and tried to kiss the girl. Apparently the girl didn’t want him to kiss her so she smacked him in the face. I saw Matt getting angry, so I walked over to him. First intention was to help him. I did, well, I didn’t. I told Matt to just fuck off and leave the girl alone. Matt pulled an angry face in my direction and left the girl. When I was about to turn around and leave too, the girl grabbed my hand and pulled me to the seat next to her. “Thanks, do you know that guy?” She asked, still holding my hand. Her fingers were gently touching mine. “Yeah, he’s one of my best friends. But he can be such a cockmonkey sometimes. I’m Charlie.” I looked up from our hands and looked her in the eye. She had dark, blue eyes that sparkled every time the lights fell on them. With her other hand she tucked her light brown hair behind her ears. “I’m Kelly.” She said and showed off her pearly white teeth with a beautiful smile. I decided to leave again, because Matt wasn’t going to like this. “Sorry, Kelly. But I have to go.” I pulled my hand out of hers and stood up. “Why?” She asked, looking like she was about to cry. She grabbed my hand again, then smiled. “I don’t want you to go, please stay.” I let out a deep breath, pulled back my hand and stroked her arm. Her skin felt soft against my hand. I frowned my forehead then looked at her again. “I can give you my number if you like, but I really have to go.” Kelly nodded and I gave her my number. I didn’t gave it out of pity or anything. I was just caught with her beauty and really wanted to see her again in other circumstances. Preferably without Matt. Preferably just the two of us. I kissed her on the cheek, then left her. “What?! You gave her your number? Are you stupid or something?” Matt yelled, pushing me hard. “She can give your number to everyone! God Charlie, you’re so stupid sometimes.” What was he saying? I wasn’t the one that got smacked in the face by a girl! “I don’t believe she knows me or the band. And if she does, so what? She’s a nice girl. You’re just jealous that she wanted to talk to me, not to you.” Maybe that was a bit stupid to say. He ignored me all the way home. In contrast to Matt, James was asking me all about the girl. He agreed with me that it wasn’t stupid to give her my number. What he did think was stupid, was that I forgot to ask hers. Two days later Kelly finally called me. In those two days, Matt was talking to me again. That was, until he found out I was going on a date with Kelly that next week. I had it all planned out; I was going to pick her up from her house, take her to a nice restaurant, then go to the park. And so I did. I picked her up from her house, met her mother, took her to a very nice restaurant and then took her to the park. We sat on the grass, watching the sun go down. I was leaning against a tree, while she was leaning against my chest. I was stroking her hair and told her what a lovely time I had. I really did enjoy the evening. We talked about everything; former relationships, school, eventually the band, and marriage and having kids. Kelly turned around, looked in my eyes for a second, then kissed me. I kissed her back passionately. I was really liking this girl, and all I could think about was when the next time would be I was going to see her. Suddenly I heard yelling from behind me. Kelly immediately got off me and stood up. “It’s Matt.” She whispered. I stood up and looked behind me. Indeed, Matt was running towards us, yelling things. He stopped running, walked the last bit towards me and started pushing me. Kelly told Matt to stop, but he just screamed at her to ‘fuck off’. Matt was still pushing me, I tripped over something and fell on the ground. Matt jumped on me, keeping my hands on the ground. But he wasn’t as strong as me, so I pushed him off me, so he was the one that was lying on the ground. He kept on yelling and screaming the most horrible things. Then he said something that hurt me. I couldn’t help myself, but punch him in the eye. It stopped him yelling. I got off him, keeping Kelly behind me in case he was going to hurt her. But he didn’t, he stood up, mumbled a ‘sorry’ and left. After I said good bye to Kelly, I never saw her again. She never called me, and I couldn’t call her because I still didn’t have her number. Matt and I sorted things out, but both thought it was the best for everyone to keep this quiet. |
