okonomiyaki restaurant styled
This isn't a recipe for okonomiyaki, but just directions of how to eat it when you're at a restaurant with a table top grill. Actually, instructions should be somewhere in the restaurant itself, but it's always good to know, right? ^.^
When you get to the restaurant, you'll be seated with the grill built into the table. Caution, the grill may still be hot. You make your choice for the evening. I chose tako okonomiyaki while my two friends chose ebi and buta.
The long silver things in the bowls are spoons. Mix the ingredients thoroughly while the waitress turns on the grill. There should be some containers on the table or they will bring it to you. Locate the oil and pour it on grill. Use the spatula to spread the oil all over. When you're done mixing the batter, pour it onto the grill.

If you're like my friends, you can use the spatula to make the okonomiyaki into different shapes. ^^; Lifting the bottom with the spatula, check periodically to see how it is doing. When the bottom is cooked to your preference, flip it over.
Again, wait while checking occasionally. When you feel it's done, locate the container of brown sauce and the brush. Apply the okonomiyaki sauce to the top of the okonomiyaki with the brush. Mayonnaise usually goes next, but I put that on after the bonito flakes.
Due to the heat, the bonito flakes aka. fish flakes aka. katsuobushi will start moving about. *stares in awe* ^.^
Mayo is applied in zig zig lines and in larger quantity then in the pic. I just did it quickly for the pic since I was getting hungry. ^_^ Aonori or dried seaweed is also usually added, but I bypassed that.
You cut a piece and place it on the your place. I cut mine like a pizza just because I could. ^-^
