Management Component

Policy: It is important to review the Collection Development Policy of the school to make sure that the web site is meeting the requirements and to determine if an additional web site selection policy needs to be added to the current policy. I believe the web site is following the collection development policy by supporting the curriculum through web site links, project links, and related issues. I also believe the web site encourages inquiry-based learning by the type of navigation that is used on the site. I believe it may be necessary to add a set of criteria to the policy that is used to determine web link selection ( currency, authority, organization, and accessibility) I also believe that this site will encourage student to become more information literate as they explore sites that are not only curricular related but also an extension of the curriculum and personal interest.

Promotion: 1. The library web site will be connected to the school intranet web site. 2. The web site will be set as the homepage on all the library computers. 3. The web site will be promoted through grade-level newsletters. 4. Faculty and Technology meeting will showcase the web site. 4. Bulletin boards, posters, and flyers will be created to promote the web site. 5. Meetings will be held with each grade level to determine major subject areas to be covered throughout the year. 6. The web site will be presented to parents during open house. 7. Lesson plans will be constructed to include the web site as a resource. 8. Library skills lessons will be provided to guide students through the web site.

Staff Development: Web page building will take place during the Technology Tuesday held every week. Staff will learn to build a simple page using dreamweaver, use the digital camera to document projects, Evaluate web pages, and use photoshop to add interest to the graphics.
