A Mom's Story

Just wanted to document my story for me, my kids, those who visit this site and other moms. Just my story and experiences for you to read about as my life as a mom goes on.

I became a mom(and a stepmom)at the same time. Our daughter was born in June and my hubby has a son from a previous relationship. It was a lot at first as my husband is in the Canadian Forces and left when the baby was only 4 days old. I flew home to my parents so they could have some time with their first grandchild and help out where they could. It was great to have so much love surrounding us.

It wasn't until I was on my own back home and looking after a daughter did I realize the magnitude of it all. I remember people saying "A baby changes your life" but never realized what they meant until I had one. They become your priority, your life, your everything. When they need something you move heaven and earth to give it to them. As playing the part of a step mom, we don't get to see him as much as we'd like due to circumstances beyond our control. Our daughter misses him a lot as he is only here once in a while and her only big brother. It may have to wait until they are older for a real relationship to develop, which is sad. He is a great kid. That is something different on a whole new level, as a step mom is kind of always walking a tightrope as to where she belongs but we all manage fairly well, most of the time.

With my husband in the Forces, he is away a lot and so it's left to me to be the mom and dad all rolled into one. Some days are most exhausting than others but we get through and laugh about it later and learn something from it forever.

Everyday is a new and exciting adventure and I can't wait for what's around the next corner. Both the kids are still young and there is always something new for all of us to learn.

Milestones

I'll just summarize here: I've survived teething, weaning, sippie cups, bottles, bath rings, some growing pains, all that comes in the first couple of years of a baby's life. :)

Funny Story

My daughter was chasing the cat saying "I doctor, you patient Isis". She had a pencil, file folder and note book. Then I heard, "Isis you sick, I doctor". It was so cute and funny. We have no idea where she saw or heard that. :)
