Frequently Asked Roleplay Questions

1: How do Caitiff, the clanless vampires, come to be?

There are two primary opinions on how Caitiff come to be. The first is that Caitiff have thin blood, not strong enough to carry the powers or weakness of a vampire's clan. This means that all Caitiff should be of a high generation. The second assumes that most clan weaknesses and powers are learned traits. Caitiff are created when a vampire is not properly initiated into a clan, and never learns the clan's ways. Under this interpretation, Caitiff can be of any generation. This works fine for clans with more "social" weaknesses (Brujah, Toreador, Tremere) but doesn't make as much sense for clans with more "physical" weaknesses (Malkavian, Gangrel and especially Nosferatu).

Very likely, both methods work. Another method for deliberately creating Caitiff is to have multiple sires for the new vampire. That is, when a the new vampire is embraced, rather than feeding her the blood of a single vampire one feeds her the blood of several vampires of different clans, mixed together. This happened a great deal in the early days of Sabbat, until their laws changed to compensate for it.

2: How high can a vampire pump up his Attributes by burning blood?

There are several different answers to the question (including more than one "official" answer). Pick the one you like the most:

a) The oldest official answer is the vampires are limited to their generation maximum, + Potence for Strength, + Fortitude for Stamina and + Celerity for Dexterity. Thus, a 6th generation vampire with a Fortitude of 3 could pump up their Stamina to 7 + 3 = 10.

b) A more recent official answer is given in the vampire FAQ on the whitewolf web page. According to that FAQ, vampires are limited to double their original attribute when pumping up their Attributes. A vampire with a Strength of 3 could increase it to a maximum of 6, regardless of their generation.

3: If a pregnant women is embraced, what happens to the child? Believe it or not this is a frequently asked question, don't really know why?

It's is just easy to say that the baby dies. When the mother dies during the embrace, the baby is absorbed along with every thing else.

4: Can Vampire's get pregnant?

According to the books, the answer is no. The body dies after the embrace and the vampire can no longer carry the child. Further more, Vampire's are no longer are able to have sex. All the internal organs die upon the embrace. The closest thing a vampire can come to "orgasim" is when they feed.

Vampire's are not able to have children per say. There are no such thing as "True Bloods" in White Wolf. The only children a vampire may have are the ones they embrace.

5: The Eat Food Merit, what is it?

Taken from WW2300, VtM, Pg 296
Eat Food Merit (1-pt. Merit)
You have the capacity to eat food and even savor its taste. While you cannot derive any nourishment from eating regular foods, this ability will serve you well in maintaining the Masquerade. Of course, you can't digest what you eat, and there will be some point during the evening when you must force yourself to heave it back up.

Now, what does this mean?

When a vampire character drinks bloodwyne, they gain very little sustenance from the blood portion, but later in the evening, they must expell the wyne part of the drink. The only thing a vampire can keep in their system is blood.

6: One of the biggest misuderstandings is the creation/Embraceing of a Assamite.

In WW 2059
Clan Book Assamite
Pg 21-22
This is a paraphrase of the pages.
The decision to Embrace a mortal is made by the clan as a whole. Originally, the clan only Embraced males of Middle Eastern and Indian ethnic stock. The first female Assamite was Embraced in 1746, but it was another 150 years before Europeans were admitted. Now, any candidate who shows sufficient promise may be considered.
The recruit must be highly skilled as either a killer or a specialist in a combat field. Secondly, they must have a psychological profile which enables them to kill those who are presented to them as enemies without suffering any psychological damage in the process. Finally, they must be intensely loyal. A prospect may be watched for several years before being approched. After being chosen they serve the Alamut for seven years-as guards and menials, and as Herd for the rafiq who reside there. Then they are inducted into the outer mysteries of the Path of Blood, becomming Ghouls.
At the end of the seven year period the decision is made as to which of the prospecs are worthy of the Embrace. Those not selected become the food for those selected. Those selected drinks the Hearts Blood ((Mixture of the blood from the clan founder and all the Assamites killed in action.))and then become Assamite.

Skipping to page 25 of the same book it states that they still have individual Sire's, for they are the one that feeds them the Hearts Blood after they had feed them their own blood. Confussion, yes I agree. So Assamites are created, plus they have a Sire. They are the only clan that practices this ritual.
More to come as they are asked.
