1. Vivi jumping rope

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

At the start of the game when you're trying to get into the play with Vivi in Alexandria, go talk to the girls jumping rope to the left of the ticket booth.  You can also do this during disk 3 or 4 over by the Moogle bell tower, but remember you need either Vivi or Eiko in your party.  All you need to do for this is press the X button when an "!" pops over Vivi's head.  But watch out as the speed quickens after 20, 50, and 100 jumps.  It slows a bit at 200 but changes the timing, and speeds up again at 300.  You can win prizes after a certain number of jumps, but you can't win the same items more than once.  For 20 jumps you get 10 gil, for 50 you get the Cactuar Card, for 100 you get the Genji Card, for 200 you get the Alexandria Card, for 300 you get the Tiger Racket Card, and for 1000 you get the King of Jump Rope Key Item.

2. Resurrecting Mognet

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

You may discover on your way to Mount Gulug that Mognet Central is shutting down.  Once you get the Reef ability for Choco and a Dead Pepper you will be able to reach Mognet Central (see map for location).  When you find the crack use a Dead Pepper to open the entrance to Mognet.  After you find out what's wrong from Artemicion, head to Alexandria and find Kupo near the bell tower and he'll give you a letter to deliver to Atla.  Atla is in Burmecia, and there he'll give you a letter for Mogryo who is near the chocobo stable in Black Mage Village.  Your next stop will be Ipsen's Castle for Kumool and then Mois, who was in the Ice Cavern.  But since the cavern is blocked up he is now outside the entrance to Fossil Roo in the Qu's Marsh on the Mist Continent, and remember you'll need Quina in your party to get there.  You'll then have to take a letter to Noggy in Daguerreo, and then back to Kupo in Alexandria.  He'll mention that someone in the stuff you need, so go to the theater to find Ruby, and she'll give you the item you need, Superslick.  Take that back to Mognet Central and you'll get a Protect Ring for getting the business going again.  You'll also get a Kupo Nut every time you deliver a letter; take each one you get to the moogle in Gizamaluke's Grotto to receive random items, including the 8th Aloha T-Shirt.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Stellazzio coins

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

While wandering through Treno, you may come across Queen Stella, who is looking for her Stellazzio coins and wants you to help.  There are twelve in all, and you can get some very good items for helping out.  When you find all twelve and take them back she'll tell you one's missing.  She'll give you all twelve back to give clues to the 13th and final Stellazzio coin.  In the third column of the table below, that is the item you'll get after the first, second, third, etc. coin, not the item you get for the coin in that row.

Coin Location Receive...
Aries windmill in Dali 1st - 1000 gil
Taurus behind the Item Shop in the slums in Treno 2nd - Phoenix Pinion

4. Treno Weapon Shop

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When you travel to Treno and stop by the Weapon shop, you may notice a monster being held in the cage below the floor.  Starting on disk 2, you can face the monster in an attempt to win a prize.  The first monster you can face is the Griffin.  He shouldn't cause any problems; just use Steiner or Zidane and attack every round, stopping only to heal.  You'll win a Tonberry Card for defeating Griffin.  The next monster you can face is at the start of Disk 3, and is Catoblepas.  He'll use Thunder, Earth, and Petrifying attacks, so take necessary means to prevent them.  If Vivi has Flare at this point, you may also want to consider using that.  You'll get 15,000 gil for defeating Catoblepas.  Towards the end of disk 3 you can face Amdusias, but you must defeat Catoblepas first.  His worst attack is Lv 4 Holy, so make sure you won't be affected by it.  He'll stick to physical attacks while in the air and magic attacks while on the ground.  One strategy would be to use Auto-Reflect and defend every round so Amdusias will actually kill itself.  You'll get some Running Shoes when you win.  Finally, on disk 4, you have the chance to face Behemoth.  For him, either chance it with using Roulette or use Zidane's Soul Blade skill with the Sargatanas equipped for an instant kill.  You'll receive the Circlet for winning.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Quan's Dwelling

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

After you leave Alexandria at the start of disk 3, head to Quan's Dwelling with Quina and Vivi in your party.  Quina will dream about food and there will be a little reunion of some of the Qu's.  Then check the clock to find a pair of Running Shoes.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. catching frogs at Qu's Marsh

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When you visit any of the Qu's Marshes, you may come across a pond with some frogs where Quina (if it's in your party) will ask if it can catch some frogs.  Catch as many as you can, but leave alone any little frogs, and also leave one male and one female frog (and the gold frog if it's there).  This will allow the frogs to repopulate faster.  You will also get congrats and items from Quale as you catch more frogs.  You'll get an Ore with 2 frogs, Ether with 5, Silk Robe with 9, Elixir with 15, Silver Fork with 23, Bistro Fork with 33, and Battle Boots with 45.  When you catch 99 frogs, Quale will come out to challenge your party to a fight.

Boss - Quale: Quale will attempt to hit you with some status attacks, so you can do one of two things.  You can give everybody the Loudmouth, Antibody, Clear Headed, and Bright Eyes to prevent as many of the statuses that he dishes out.  But since not everybody has all four of those and there's nothing to prevent Mini, you'll need ways to heal statuses, so make sure Quina has the Angel Snack ability or bring along Eiko with Esuna.  You could also use items like Remedies to heal.  You also have the option to have the Auto-Reflect ability on everyone to prevent those statuses.  But that could be bad as Quale uses Water based magic and when it is reflected back to him, it'll cure him.  So stick away from using Water based attacks, but he is weak to Thunder.  When you win you'll be rewarded with the Gastro Fork.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. off to the races

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Once you have control of only Vivi at the start of disk 3, you can find Hippaul and his mother on the main street of Alexandria.  If you talk to them, his mother will ask if you want to race Hippaul to get him into shape.  Every time you beat him, he'll gain a level, and every ten levels he gains, his mother will give you a card from Hippaul's collection.  At level 10 you'll get the Wyerd Card, the Carrion Worm Card at level 20, the Tantarian Card at 30, Armstrong Card at 40, Ribbon Card at 50, Nova Dragon Card at 60, and the Genji Card at level 70.  You can also get the Athlete Queen Key Item at level 80, but it serves no real purpose.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. Excaliburs

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

If you go to the library in Daguerreo, you will find a man who is looking for a Magical Fingertip.  Head to the auction house in Treno and keep going back to find the Magical Fingertip.  You may have to pay around 85,000 gil for it, so make sure you have plenty of money.  If it doesn't show up at all after going through a few sessions, try buying some of the key items (like Une's Mirror, Doga's Artifact, Rat Tail, and the Griffin's Heart) and then going around selling them to people in Treno.  After that, return to the auction house and the Magical Fingertip should be there.  Once you buy it, head back to Daguerreo to give it to the old man and he will give you the Excalibur.

You can also get an upgraded version of the Excalibur, Excalibur II, if you can make it to the terrace in Memoria (on Disk 4) within 12 gameplay hours.  Sure it has an attack rating of 107 (20 better than the Ragnarok - Steiner's next strongest sword), but it is not really worth the try.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. Friendly Monsters

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Once in a while you may come into a battle with some strange music and a monster that asks for an item.  If you do what they ask of you, you'll get another item along with loads of AP.  There is no real order to the friendly monsters you have to meet, but you won't be able to meet the friendly yan until you meet all the others.  Plus you'll need the Gold Choco in order to finish this side quest.

Monster Location Give Receive AP
Brown Mu plains between Dali and Ice Cavern exit 1 Ore Potion 10
White Ghost plains near Treno 1 Ore Hi-Potion 10
Color Ladybug forest surrounding Black Mage Village 2 Ores Ether 20
Green Yeti larger forest outside of Madain Sari 2 Ores Elixir 20
Green Nymph forest near Iifa Tree 3 Ores Emerald 30
Purple Jabberwock forest east of Oeilvert 1 Emerald Moonstone 40
Green Feather Circle anywhere on Lost Continent 1 Moonstone Lapis Lazuli 30
Rainbow Garuda mesa above Gizamaluke's Grotto (E. forest) 1 Lapis Lazuli Diamond 40
Friendly Yan forest on Vile Island 1 Diamond Rosetta Ring 50

Beware looking for the Friendly Yan on Vile Island as the regular Yans are tougher than pretty much any of the bosses in the game, not to mention they come in numbers.  Your best bet against some Yans is to cast Death or summon Odin.  Or just rely on luck to take them out or even run away if you can.  You do get tons of EXP if you can manage to take them out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

10. Hades synth shop

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

On your trip through Memoria, you'll come to a room where Quina will try swimming.  At the base of the stairs there, walk to the right to find a hidden area.  Run around there pressing X until a mysterious voice tells you to leave.  Don't leave and you'll be drawn into a battle with Hades, master synthesis.

Boss - Hades: If you were able to take care of Ozma, Hades will be no problem.  Have Steiner use his Shock ability and have Eiko summon Madeen (don't forget to use the Boost ability).  Those attacks will give 9999 HP damage each, so Hades won't last more than three rounds as he has roughly 55,000 HP.  You can bring Vivi along to cast Flare too (but obviously don't do that if Hades has Reflect), and use Zidane to try and steal items as Hades has some very good items (Running Shoes, Robe of Lords, Battle Boots, and Reflect Ring).  You should also give everyone abilities that prevent status effects in case he gets off his Curse ability in there, Clear Headed, Body Temp, and Antibody.  Auto-Regen and Auto-Haste will make things easier and faster.  But since you will be able to take him out in three rounds, he won't get out his big guns before he is defeated.

After Hades is defeated, he will congratulate you and tell you to bring back two Pumice Pieces to make a one-of-a-kind item only he can make (although you can get it by defeating Ozma).  Hit X again without moving and you will be able to access the Hades synth shop.  Here's what you can get:

Item Synth Items Cost
Robe of Lords White Robe and Black Robe 30000
Tin Armor Hammer and Ore 50000
Protect Ring Dark Matter and Rebirth Ring 40000
Pumice 2 Pumice Pieces 50000

11. Ozma

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

When you get the Gold Chocobo and go to the Chocobo Air Garden, walk to the back island and go to the grave on the back of the island.  Check it out and Mene will warn you that there is something definitely wrong with it.  So before you go ahead and attack Ozma, make sure your abilities are how you want them.  First of all, you'll want a party of Zidane, Quina, Eiko, and Steiner.  Make sure you have the Blue Magic ability Angel Snack for Quina.  As for your abilities, you'll need a lot, so everyone will need a lot of gemstones.  You don't necessarily have to be at level 99 with everyone (I was at level 71 the first time I beat him and I obliterated him), but everyone should have at least 50 stones.  In this order, here are the abilities everyone needs to have  - Clear Headed, Auto-Regen, Loudmouth (Eiko and Quina), Auto-Haste, Auto-Potion, Bright Eyes (Steiner and Zidane), HP+10&20% (Steiner and Zidane), Auto-Life, Half MP (Eiko), and any status effect prevention abilities if you have any stones left.  Auto-Life and Half MP aren't absolutely necessary, but are very helpful.  And before you go into battle, make sure that you have armor that will either nullify or absorb Shadow magic.  It's also a very good idea not to have anybody that would be susceptible to any Lv 4 or Lv 5 spells.  When you're ready, go ahead and take him on!

Boss - Ozma: What the....all the hype of a huge tough boss and all he is is a giant rotating orb??  Each of your characters has a certain task they will fulfill during the battle.  The only time you should change from this strategy is if two characters are dead and you need to revive them.  Otherwise if only one is dead, have Eiko use Full-Life.  Ok, for Zidane, have him attack and if you need to use recovery items during the battle that won't be able to be taken care of by Quina or Eiko, have him use them.  It's also a good idea to have him close to Trance before the battle so you can bust out some Grand Lethals during the battle.  As for Quina, do NOT use it for anything besides Angel Snack, unless it's the only character left and you need to revive someone.  Angel Snack will heal all status effects except Berserk.  Eiko should only be used for curing and reviving characters after something like Meteor.  The Auto-Potion - Auto-Haste - Auto- Regen combination comes in real handy for healing.  After any attack everyone will automatically use a potion.  Sure it only recovers 150 HP, but in that time that all four characters are using potions, Auto-Regen will recover at least a couple thousand HP.  As for Steiner, have him use Shock every round, but if he is Minied, wait until he is healed before using Shock.  But after two Shocks, Ozma will cast Berserk on him, so have Zidane or Eiko use a Gysahl Green on him so he can return to using Shock.  This is the best I can forewarn you on the strategies you should use, but the entourage of attacks from Ozma will still make this battle very difficult.  Even with the Auto-Haste ability on all your characters, Ozma will still attack you after every one or two of your characters rather than after every round.  He is also VERY smart in his attacks.  I already mentioned Berserking Steiner; he'll also use Lv 5 Death if your characters are at multiples of level 5.  Also if you use Quina for something other than Angel Snack, Ozma will come back with Curse, so while you're waiting for Quina to get back in line to use Angel Snack, he'll have decimated your party.  This battle is almost like facing another human player, so you'll have to be smart in your moves and stick to the strategy.  Except he has attacks that can kill your entire party if they're not at full health.  It will take a lot of luck, but you'll get a Dark Matter and Pumice for defeating Ozma.
