May 17,2003: She didn't eat again this week. She did this last year about this time too. Except last year she was going 5 weeks without feeding. May 23,2003: She shed today, and I didn't even see her haze over!!! She left most of her shed in her water dish. Hopefully now she'll start eating again. June 1,2003: She finally ate today. Raven didn't eat her hopper so I gave it to her. She ate 2 adults and Raven's hopper. I tried measuring her,but her head was kinda cocked weird in the pic. She measured at 41.5" and 1.21" thick. If she did grow (I got 42" last time) she didn't grow much, just got fatter ; ). June 8,2003: I didn't feed her this week because I want to take her to the show next week to have her probed.Don't need her going on somebody doing me a favor ; ). June 14,2003: Well, I took her to the show to get her probed. The guy I got to probe her took a guess before he tried. He guessed she was a male by looking at her tail. He probed HER as ..huh ..well, a FEMALE!! LOL I had 5 people walk up to me and ask about her :))). June 15,2003: I got her rats at the show to try to switch her over. Well, it looks like she's in shed and the only thing she ate was a left over hopper from what Raven didn't eat. One rat wasted >: (. June 19,2003: She shed last night, a perfect one peice shed!!! : ). June 23,2003: I gave her an adult mouse and a small rat today. She ate BOTH!!! She took the rat first. It took a little while but she got it down. It's been awhile since I've seen her with a nice healthy lump in her. The adult mice she always ate barely gave her a bulge. Looks like next time I'm getting more rats! : ). June 29,2003: She ate a small Rat and an adult mouse again. July 5,2003: She was hazed over, so she didn't eat this week. July 11,2003: She shed today. A one piece shed!!! I have to get a new measurement of her. Her shed LOOKS so much bigger than her others. It's actually as long as my daughter now!!! LOL July 13,2003: She ate 2 small rats this week. July 20,2003: She didn't eat this week. She wasn't even interested : (. Aug. 6,2003: Well, she seems to be going back to her fasting, like last year. Same time of year too. Last year she would go 5 weeks between feedings. This is week #3. Aug. 11,2003: She shed sometime? I moved her to a bigger tank with aspen substrate when I brought Phoenix and Bandit home. She's always burrowing since. I only noticed it because the tail section was standing straight out of the substrate. Aug. 13,2003: She FINALLY ate today!!! She ate one small rat. I tried giving her the ones Bones didn't eat, but she wasn't interested. Ones better than nothing though ; ). Aug. 19,2003: I put one of the live pinkies that the little ones didn't eat in with her, hoping it would get her "going." Well, it kinda worked...she ate it and nothing else! I'm going to be taking her to the vet on Friday to have her checked out. Lately she's been getting lumps all over her, and she looks like she's starting to loose weight. Not really sure what it is, better to be safe than sorry ; ). Aug. 22,2003: Well, the vet said it LOOKS like she has swollen lymph nodes, or the snakes version of it anyway. They took a swab of her vent to see if she has any bacterial infections. They still want to do a fecal whenever she eats and...huh...goes. Till then I'm waiting on the results of the swab tests. When they weighed her, she was 448 grams. The vet said she looked in good condition besides the lumps. So, I guess that's a plus? Aug. 25,2003: No dice this week. She's still not interested in eating : (. Sept. 11,2003: She still isn't interested in eating. She did shed last night though, so hopefully........ Sept. 12,2003: Finally got the results back from the vet. They said she has a strep infection. They're going to mail me the medication. Sept. 16,2003: We got her meds today. I called the vet to double check the right way to give it to her. I have to give it to her ORALLY!!! So we ( my son and I) tried prying her mouth open to give it to her. She wouldn't have any of it. She'd just clamp up so tight I couldn't get in! Sept. 17,2003: Well, we finally go ther to open up today. My son injected the meds with the syringe like a pro! Sept. 18,2003: We got her out to give her a second dose of her meds and saw a dark lump on her belly. It was about 1-1 1/2" long. We called the vet and they told me to stop the meds and bring her in on Sat. Sept. 20,2003: I took her to the vet and they said the lump "looked" like a "fecal ball" probably caused from the infection. They're going to keep her for the weekend to see if they can clear her up. Sept. 22,2003: I got a call from the vet today....she didn't make it. They want to do a necropsy on her, but I'm not sure I want her to be cut up. My son is definitely against it. I'd like to know what happened, but I think I'm just going to pick her up tomorrow and bury her in the yard. We're going to miss you my beautiful Angel :'(. Sept.27,2003: I decided to get the necropsy done. Today I called the vet, and she told me she died from a hemorrhage. I decided to get a biopsy on the hemorage to make sure it wasn't caused by a parasite. I'm going to pick her remains up tomorrow. Sept.28,2003: I picked her up from the vet. My son insisted on digging the hole for her in the yard. We barried her next to a dog we lost 2 years ago and marked her with a few bricks. The vet said it would take about 2-3 weeks to get the results of the biopsy. Oct. 25,2003: I finally got the results of the biopsy. The vet said she had kidney failure, which led to the hemorrhage. Didn't say what caused the kidney failure though. She did say that there wasn't any parasites though. |
