In 1964 while I was in college I received 8 8-inch green plates and 8 heavy tumblers as birthday presents from some of my dorm friends. Each item cost $1! I have them all still and enjoy using them occasionally. Nice old memories. Were these made by Colony glass? How old is the King's Crown pattern? By reproduction do you mean newer plates or "made in China" or ...? Thanks.

Hello There; I started collecting King's Crown about six years ago and have completed almost an 8 place setting. I am interested in purchasing anything in Ruby or Blue which I have found several pieces lately. I have found myself at antique markets looking for nothing but Kings Crown. I guess I'm hooked on King's Crown. EMail me at this address as soon as possible. From; Bill

I recently found a 10 piece set of green King's Crown dishes. I've been told that they are "luncheon sets" or "snack sets", but the plates are dinner size. The plates have a slot where a cup fits. There is a perfect example of the set on e-bay. It is titled, "King's crown thumbprint in green!" I was wondering if you could tell me what year they were made and what they are actually called. I am planning on selling them, if you know of any interested people. I am working on setting up some e-bay sight. Waiting for new software. Thanx! Michelle (Mick)

King's Crown Fanatic: They are actually called snack plates and cups. They come in the green, amber and ruby. They were made by Indiana through the 60's and 70's. On a side note for people looking for 10" dinner plates and either cannot find them or can afford them just yet...the snack plates make a wonderful substitute until you can fill that slot. I bought snack plates pretty early in my collecting. I didn't even SEE a dinner plate until a good 5 years into my collecting. So, I used the snack plates. They were a great conversational piece.

I love your page - It has helped me in my quest for kings crown - I'm just sorry I didn't find it before I became the owner of the Lexington punch bowl - my first purchase and I really got ripped off - but live and hopefully learn I still think the cups are just the cutties - but tell me I'm confused on the tiffin kings crown and the regular kings crown I see - I'm deeply attracted to the light color and the flared rims - they seem to be harder to come by ? I wish I had never seen this stuff and oh, by the way I gave a real punch bowl away several years ago to my sister in law since she has the big house and does so much more entertaining, but now what the heck I might as well collect something in the winter

King's Crown Fanatic: The Lexington Punch bowl really sticks in my craw! I see it on ebay monthly listed as King's Crown. I usually email the seller and inform them nicely that it is misidentified and they seldom add a note telling any different. I feel they are being misleading whether intentional or not. It is my hope that the bidders are aware that they are not bidding on a King's Crown punch bowl and want the beautiful bowl for itself.

I inherited 6 lovely glasses from my mother's estate, didn't know a thing about them except that they were beautiful, and that she used them on special occasions. They brought back pleasant memories, and are seen in many family photos taken over the years. We noticed a matching compote at an antique mall recently, and now I'm hooked! She had a set of the sherbets at one time, but alas they are gone, who knows where. I'm thinking of beginning a collection around these glasses and continuing the tradition of holiday use. Love your web site -- will check in often. Thanks

King's Crown Fanatic: I highly recommend the use of King's Crown, whether for holiday use or through out the year. I have a Christmas dinner every year where I drag out all the King's Crown practically and I have pieces that sit out all year that are used.

What a wonderful collection and web site you have. Very educational. I started collecting Kings Crown when I inherited my Aunt's goblets. They are a diamond cut rather than "thumb print" style. I try to look for more ruby glassware whenever we go antiquing. I would like more plates. I have an abundance of large and small goblets, a few compotes.

Hi! I just found your site while Iwas looking for a pressed glass pattern called "Wildflower" which I have been collecting for 61 years. Then I started adding to my mother's ruby Kings Crown. Starting with her dozen goblets, I have added a dozen each of wines, salad plates, sherberts, and two sherbert candle sticks, a salad bowl and large platter, eight "ice tea" tumblers and a tall open compote. I also bought 4 small saucers to go with 4 cups that I had seen in an antique shop. When I went to buy the cups alas they were gone! Does anyone have 4 ruby cups to go with my saucers? I would sure like to find some. The moral of this is "the time to buy an antique is when you see it" Thanks for your help, Anne

King's Crown Fanatic: Anne I'll keep an eye out for some cups for you, but you do point out a good lesson here. When I buy drinkware I try and buy it all at once or not at all. There are so many different shapes and sizes of every piece from the tiny cordials to the coffee cups. If you want a set that matches it is best to buy it together when you see. You can make sure everything matches and looks good together before you buy it. Also who knows when you might find some more of that piece. It's hard to leave items behind, but I have done it when I could afford to buy all of them at once.

Hi there. You have a great(!) web site with lots of great information. I have just learned about King's Crown within the last couple of weeks. A friend has a snack set that I was trying to identify and it led me (after much on and off searching) to this web site. I have two questions: I want to make sure that what I'm looking at really *is* King's Crown. This ebay closed auction has the piece I'm concerned with, auction #122555590. Second, I bought some wine glasses at an auction that appear to me to be King's Crown, but they're crystal with no color. Did Indiana make that? If you need a picture, let me know and I'll put one up for you. Also, I'd like to know the history of the pattern. I'm given to understand that Tiffin made the pattern originally and later Indiana. Where can I learn more?

Thanks so much. :-) Great web site. Steve.

King's Crown Fanatic: I'm working on a King's Crown time line. There are several copies through out the years making King's Crown. I'd like to get a timeline on the web site so we can all better understand which company made what when. :)

I have to sacrifice my beginners collection of Kings Crown to make room for my new obsession of Belleek. I don't have any unusual pieces, just goblets, sherbets, lunceon plates, a few tumblers, and 2 wines. They are all ruby and in excellent condition, if you know anyone who wants the basic pieces, let me know by e mail. Thanks Barbara

Hi! I was searching over the internet and trying to figure out what this set of dishes I have is. I am not sure if it is King's Crown or something similar. Do you have any suggestions as to what else? Would you like a picture? It is definitely cranberry stained around the tops and edges of all my pieces. Thanks so much for your time! Michelle Kaminsky

King's Crown Fanatic: I'm always happy to help ID patterns, but if you're anxious to figure it out before I can get back to you is to take a look at my "House of Shame" page. There are a lot of different patterns identified there that are frequently mistakes as King's Crown.

Are most the people on this web sight collecting the reproduction items ? I have not seen anything old listed.

King's Crown Fanatic: The majority of the glass sold today is by Indiana Glass, which are reproductions. Originals aren't too difficult to find, but you have to be patient and rich. ;)

hi finally after three weeks of waiting i am finally here. first time for everything and this is it (internet) please excuse all mistakes. it will take a while to get my sea legs. Any way I was bestowed 8 sherberts after admiring the pattern and color for many years. I dared not start another glass collection. Within a week I had acquired 8 tumblers and 8 wine size? glasses. Have found additional glasses but I don't won't to get glassed out. I bought a book by Gene Florence and found it to be very informative. I also have several of the glass patterns in the book. Have found out there are many time periods of production and of course companies. Made the mistake of buying a newer pattern when I have the older pattern. I'm learning day by day trip by trip. Found a beautiful set of the older flared top and oval thumb print in an antique shop in Maryland going to Ocean City, Kent Island but like I said I don't want to get too many. Husband says I'm dragging on hope to hear from you soon and when he isn't around we can discuss more. Off to your pages. See ya!
