Materials
Salad or other shaped macaroni
Rubbing alcohol
Food Coloring
Large zippered food bag
Waxed paper
- Place desired amount of macaroni in the plastic bag
- Mix 3 Tablespoons rubbing alcohol with several drops of food coloring (The more food coloring you use, the darker the macaroni will be).
- Pour the colored alchol over the macaroni in the bag, zip the bag closed and shake the macaroni to coat with alcohol.
- Allow the macaroni to sit in the alcohol mixture until it is the desired shade.
- Remove the dyed macaroni from bag and spread on waxed paper to dry. Discard any left over alcohol.
- Use colored macaroni in collages or cut lengths of string, stiffen the ends with glue and use to string the macaroni to make "beaded" necklaces or bracelets.
