FINAL FANTASY IX
Nothing in this world is as clear as black and white is it? Death and life, is it as simple as that? Fear always lies in a gray area in between … is the will of live greater or the fear of death? Is individuality a tool to discovering the truth or a byway down the road of destruction?
Okay, enough with the serious stuff … final fantasy IX is as fun as it gets … characters revert to a more chibi look as compared to FF8. Not that I don't like the serious look, but FF8 was a little serious and could have left out players who wanted something more fantasy and less reality, kinda more in line with FF6 and 5 … But come to think of it, doesn't FF9 look like FF7. I mean, Garnet looks kinda like Tifa, Zidane has got Cloud's look although monkey boy 2 (and this I call with affection) is a lot more stable and happy. Kuja (monkey boy 1) is as some of his shrines have called him, a younger Sephiroth sans the Musamune. For worthy mention, Vivi the black mage who is so kawaii … I can imagine Vivi stuff dolls for sale now …
The only person we are missing is a version of Vincent Valentine to add a tinge of tragedy to the story. Hmm, but then FF9 seems to be written on a more happy note than the previous FF since FF5, and heck, I say enjoy the game and leave the analysis to shrinks.
Anyhow, all I can say about this FF is that the story is cool (altho can someone tell me what was the ending for monkey boy 1 - did he survive or die … I fear the worst … he is alive but selling sleazy hotdogs somewhere! Ugh, what happened to world domination?) and the animation is awesome. But then again, for you who read my FF7 page, Kuja is what I wished for in Septhy … I mean, a more human and tragic villain who is nuts but at the same time, fueled by sorrow and fear at his own mortality. And gush, he is actually a okay guy at heart … awww … I am however, not going to mention it here in case I spoil the game for some of you.
On a side note, I've heard FF10 looks kinda like FF8 but until that shows up, let's hang around with the cutie monkey boys … (my only regret is that FF9 never really quite showed Kuja with his snazzy tail except in trance mode … he looks more like a gorilla there …). Question, how did Kuja hide his tail, he wasn't exactly wearing loose slacks in the game was he?
