i'm worried about the world. i think almost everyone's gone mad and nobody can make it stop. and to just think of what the media makes it into and what george bush has done to "give the people morale" i find appalling. but it's so childlike and stupid and pseudo-diplomatic or something the way they're bombing afghanistan and at the same time dropping food, disrupting the WFP that the UN already had in place. and everybody but the "americans" are protesting. bush wants to show the world "america's power." how foolish. how can he even think that? why did everybody with common sense know that if bush got elected big problems were going to go down??? his election was an acknowledged *abuse* against basic democratic and human rights. for those of us who've grown up in this sort of culture, we come to expect government workings to be fair, but when they're not, we don't know what to do about it. it just goes to show how *un-democratic* america actually is. it's "america's power," i.e. big business, that actually runs the country and it seems rather obvious where the interests of the president lie. isn't this "war on terrorism" a convienent excuse to build up the military? now there are people in muslim countries around the world who hate americans and will attempt to murder workers and tourists who are americans or who are mistaken for americans. likewise, no doubt many americans find the temptation to hate muslims equally as strong.

"what is the world coming to?"

is now

"what has the world become?"

this sort of mass confusion finds its roots in greed. japan's attempt to kick the west out of asia failed (although not completely) in WWII. now it is the taliban's turn to try.

instead of focusing on preventitive measures, right now the "west" would do better by investigating ways in which to reverse and to heal the problems before they become confounded. essentially, this is the work of compassion! i think that's the core of "sustainability." because you can't fix a problem or problems by adding things on top of the underlying problem(s), which in this case *appears* to be the israeli-palestinian conflict. it is my sincere belief that any sort of top-down "solutions" to the problems we face are going to inevitably end in disaster. the leaders of the world are nuts. anybody who believes in what they're saying, i.e. "war is the answer" is going to be painfully let down. bush and the taliban are screaming, "it's mine! it's mine!" while concerned nations and individuals give money to refugees and firefighters.

grassroots a go-go!

why aren't americans protesting? maybe it's because there is a feeling that they are powerless in the face of the government. (what sort of freedom is that?) or maybe the majority of americans do believe in violence and therefore don't protest???

violence is *not* the answer. let's come together and peacefully stand up for humanity, using the power of compassion to protect us from all forms of hatred. NGOs unite!

war is a violation of human rights!!!
