Another moment too soon, for you.
Michelle's POV
LaOC XLII - A Runaway
Old Flame
'Ok. Who pushed me in front of an express train?
Oww!'
'Don't move. You... stay still. What do you need,
and I'll get it for you?'
Need?
A whole new body.
I feel like the time me and Gab drank an entire
bottle of Tequila in two hours.
Except I'm not throwing my guts up--yet.
'Kreo? Can I have some water, please?'
I close my eyes and lay back down.
Right.
The room needs to stop spinning round, and I definitely
need to not move about again.
Hey, I'm alive!
Talk about forgetting the important stuff.
'I'm not dead! Why aren't I dead? I thought I was...
well, you know, a goner back there. Who gave me the kiss of life?'
A hand behind me helps me sit up a little, so I
can drink some water.
Bliss.
Talk about small things.
'Elle healed you. She... '
I crack my eyes open and try not to move my head
too much.
Don't want to encourage that pounding feeling back.
'She what?'
Don't make me repeat it, please.
Come on Kreo.
Crap.
'Kreo. She what? Elle's alright, yeah?'
She crosses her arms and starts to say something,
then sighs, and tries again.
No, not this time either.
Again, and finally she speaks.
'She healed you. That's all. Was really draining
for her. You had me... us, very worried. You've been out for
hours.'
Hours?
Better than being completely lifeless though.
'I'm a tough cookie. No getting rid of me with some
little bolt.'
Ain't that a massive lie.
I thought I was dead and buried.
Then I remember.
Dis.
'What about Dis? She ok? I've never seen her like
that before.'
Yeah, great Michelle.
Ask Kreo, who hates her guts, because she'll tell
you how she's doing.
Cretin.
'Knight is in the cells. I saw her earlier, she
seemed... alive.'
At least she didn't snarl like she normally does
when I talk about her.
Ooo--I need to lie back down.
A whole herd of elephants has started a party in
my head.
'I have to lie back down. Not feeling too good.'
She helps me to lie down, and tucks me in.
Dis is safer in the cells anyway.
I'll have to get out of here and see if she's ok.
Yeah, as soon as I can move without all this pain
hammering away.
'Do you need me to get you some painkillers? They
might take the edge off that headache.'
'Can I have a whole skip full?'
She laughs softly, and pulls a chair up by my bed.
'That'd be a good idea. You survive a massive bolt,
but I kill you by letting you OD on pills. Try and get some sleep.
You'll feel better after you let your body heal the rest of your wounds.'
I settle back and instantly I can feel myself drifting
off.
Every now and then I get a flash of what happened
earlier, in my head.
I feel Kreo take my hand, and stroke it slowly.
With that, and my whole body needing a lot of rest,
I finally relax.
But I know that sleep isn't going to solve my main
problem.
I need to see Dis for that to happen.
