The unknown between us

In this we are the same,

unsure, hesitant of the path

ahead. Wondering where to

lay blame, should our

histories prove difficult, unworthy

or worst of all - dead.

In the pale light of dawn

its easier to see the truth,

but we never made it that far,

we let our feelings loose.

No solid ground to step on

No secret map left behind

Through our tears, our mistakes

there is only one Faith to find.

If the road we think we knew

should suddenly turn to dust

and the book we once read

loses its words

Where does that leave us?

In our path of righteousness

Who is left to be heard?

I don't sing of more simple

truths. Profess an undying lust

to an empty alter is not my

worth.

I just hope for the future. A

longing for re-birth.

And if we shared one more kiss

that would be enough.

Like phoenix rose from the flames

My heart would rise from its dusty,

rust like shell.

Not to join in everlasting light

As all good things reach an end.

But to enjoy the silent time

before dusk and to know

We could learn to live again.
